It was surprisingly impressive. (In the photo, 07 Rose Story is on the left, and 15 Rouge Escarpin is on the right.) Let's talk about these shades! 07 is a calm rose color with a hint of purple. It's not overly light or nude, but when applied, it creates a subtle, sophisticated rose lip without any patchiness. Though it's a cool-toned lip color, I, as a warm-toned person, love using it in autumn. It's exactly the rose shade I adore. It instantly gives you that chic vibe. 15 is a chili red, but not the dusty or brown-tinged kind. It's a slightly deep, perfectly pretty red. It's a beautiful red without any warm or neon orange undertones. Layering 07 as a base with 15 as an inner accent looks absolutely stunning. Advantages: - Minimal transfer and excellent adherence (long-lasting). Honestly, when the product page claimed it wouldn't transfer to masks and had long-lasting power, I was skeptical. But it really does have minimal transfer. It transfers much less than other velvet tints or velvet lipsticks. I realized this not just with masks, but when drinking water from paper cups - it didn't leave messy lip product marks. That was a pleasant surprise! - Smooth application. It applies very smoothly without clumping. There's no issue with it only applying to the lip line or outside of it. The product page mentioned it feels light as if you're not wearing anything, and I agree. It applies smoothly without feeling thick, making it comfortable on the lips. This aspect is highly satisfying. The thinness seems to contribute to its excellent adherence. - Not particularly drying and less likely to emphasize dry patches. Some velvet lipsticks with smooth application can be slightly matte, but this Velvet Pencil isn't very matte at all. I haven't tried it in the dead of winter yet, but it's less drying than other velvet tints. With 1-2 applications, it doesn't significantly emphasize dry patches. - High pigmentation! The color payoff is excellent. It doesn't slide around on your lips when applying, so you get exactly the color you see on the pencil.
ConsThere aren't many downsides, but if I had to nitpick: - Being a pencil, if you want to create a blurred overlip look like with velvet tints, you'll need to smudge the lip line edges a bit with your finger or a brush. - I wish there were more color options. Korean products generally suit my color preferences better. To be fair, this product does have all the basic colors you might need! It's just that the color range is smaller compared to something like Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet tints.
TipWith its superior adherence and relatively non-drying formula, I personally highly recommend it. If you're tired of transferring velvet tints, this is the one for you.
