The extreme thickness is a downside. Absolutely do not apply this and go straight to bed - you'll end up having to wash all your sheets and pillowcases the next day. Think of it as a wash-off mask that needs plenty of time. It seems quite acidic, as it creates a warm, tingly sensation when applied. The feeling fades quickly and hasn't caused me any problems, but if you have super sensitive skin, I'd recommend doing a patch test on the back of your hand first.

The instructions simply say to apply it, but this stuff is incredibly thick and sticky, so you need to wash it off. It's more of a wash-off mask, really.
