Combination skin + dry around the mouth + light undertone. I usually use shade 19 in other cushions, but I got this recommended due to my tan. After testing it at the department store, I bought it because it adheres well, has good coverage, and isn't too drying. Even with my clumsy hands, it applies smoothly without clumping and is easy to use. I find myself reaching for it often and I'm on my nth refill now. Oh... the price... I'm speechless. It's disheartening how much the price has increased. - ym*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 1, 2025
It feels so moisturizing, perfect for winter use. I'd highly recommend this to those with dry skin. Unfortunately, it caused some darkening and didn't hold up well throughout the day. There was also a bit of patchiness. - br****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedApr 10, 2024
As someone with an in-between skin tone where shade 23 is definitely too light but 25 seems too dark, I usually test foundations at department stores before buying. This winter, my skin suddenly became sensitive and dry, with makeup settling into pores and looking patchy. Since I've had good experiences with Armani foundations, I decided to try their cushion. As the name 'Essence-in-Balm' suggests, it feels semi-matte when applied, but less drying than expected. The Hwahae Testers advised pressing the product into areas with visible pores for better coverage, and it really works! Importantly, it doesn't emphasize pores over time. I hate when makeup breaks down and settles into pores, making skin look messy, so I'm pleased this doesn't happen. For me, that's crucial in a cushion, so I'm satisfied and using it regularly. You need to be careful with the amount applied. If you use too much, the makeup can look very heavy. Fortunately, as time passes and natural oils come through, it becomes less noticeable. For my combination dehydrated skin, I think this might feel too heavy during summer. This could be a good option for those with dry skin looking for a semi-matte finish. Remember to control the amount you apply. I'm fairly satisfied using it, but seeing the lack of reviews makes me worry it might be discontinued soon. Looks like I might become a cushion nomad again... - jo**********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedAug 15, 2022
Skin type: Oily, combination dehydrated, acne-prone, large pores, redness Skin appearance: The skin appearance is truly fantastic. It looks like a peeled egg (if that makes sense). On the first day of use, I received compliments on how good my skin looked. However, please make sure to check the cons below! Pore clogging: Despite having large pores and some pore scarring, I didn't experience any noticeable pore clogging. Color: The color blends well with my skin tone, so it doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup. Coverage - Natural look: I prefer natural coverage, so I like this level of coverage, but it doesn't provide heavy coverage. In my opinion, it doesn't completely cover redness. Moisture & Glow: I enjoy a dewy, glowing skin look. While I can definitely feel the moisture, I'm not sure about the glow... Wear: While I wouldn't say it wears off beautifully, I also wouldn't say it wears off poorly. It seems to last quite well. Skin blemishes: I regret not checking the Hwahae reviews for this cushion before purchasing. I really wanted to give it a 1-star rating because of this, but since some people didn't experience skin issues and it has many pros, I only deducted one star... Every time I use this product, my skin breaks out the next day. I had to stop using all makeup, only apply sunscreen, and focus on calming my skin for a week to recover. Price: I bought it for 93,100 won... Using it causes blemishes, but not using it feels like a waste of money... I'm torn between giving up the money or giving up on my skin... If I keep using it, I'll probably end up spending more money trying to calm my skin. Aside from these two points, I can't really find any other cons. If it didn't cause skin issues, the price would be totally worth it, but the skin reactions are a major dealbreaker. While there's a critical drawback of potential skin blemishes, this product has many advantages. For those who find it suitable, it could be an excellent choice. Therefore, if Giorgio Armani offers samples of this product, I strongly recommend trying a sample before purchasing. A pro tip for application: Apply it like many YouTubers do with cushions - use very small amounts on the puff and build up thin layers. After applying this way, I used Urban Decay's setting spray, which significantly reduced transfer onto my mask. It didn't completely prevent transfer, but it was minimal. Although the case is pretty, please don't buy it just for that reason. It's best to try a sample first before purchasing. The price is too high to consider the attractive packaging as an additional pro... - hc**********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedAug 18, 2021
As someone with combination skin that often feels rough, I bought this for its moisturizing properties. I'm glad it wasn't excessively dewy. It might be slightly insufficient for those with extremely dry skin. My shade varies between 19-21 in winter and 21-23 in summer due to tanning. Shade 4 is about as light as 19 or 20, so it's quite bright. While my skin can be sensitive depending on its condition, I've never experienced irritation from this product. However, I was surprised to see the ingredients list on Hwahae. The cushion puff looks more circular than oval, making it appear larger. The oval-shaped bottom contributes to this impression. The cushion gets visibly dirty easily. From the start, the blue lid part collects fingerprints and doesn't clean up well. If you don't wipe the cushion frequently, it can look quite unsightly. For areas like the nose where the cushion doesn't apply evenly, using a foundation brush works well. - ma*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 3, 2020
I was so in love with the case that I visited the department store ready to buy it even if the product wasn't great! I had zero expectations for the product's performance, as the Two Go cushion wasn't my cup of tea. 1. Case As a blue enthusiast, I couldn't resist this case! It's the most satisfying case among all my department store purchases - totally my style 💙 2. Performance Despite my sensitive skin, I didn't experience any blemishes! It might be due to the short usage period, but so far, so good. 👉🏻 Surprisingly, it's not a cushion but a solid balm with a mesh overlay! And the diamond-shaped puff is absolutely fantastic! It's perfect for applying under the eyes, around the nose, and below the nose. 👉🏻 The puff material feels like those black face masks, you know? Not cotton, but a slightly shimmery fabric.. You'll understand when you touch it. It's amazingly good at adhering to the skin! 👉🏻 As someone prone to redness, I prefer cosmetics with a cooling effect, and this product has it - that's what I loved most! Even when applied over a thorough skincare routine, it doesn't pill and absorbs well. In my opinion, it doesn't transfer much either. Wow... it's really great. With its cooling and hydrating properties, I'd recommend it to those with dry skin and redness issues. Though I bought it for the case, I'm satisfied with the product too. For me, it's worth the $90! I think it's good value for money. 3. Coverage What's this moisturizing product with great coverage, yet applies so thinly? 🤭 It's slightly thicker than the Two Go cushion, but considering its coverage, it goes on incredibly thin! This is why I love department store cushions - they apply thinly and give a luxurious glow! That's the reason I only buy department store cushions for my base makeup. 4. Color I have a 21 skin tone with redness and blemishes. I was torn between shades 2, 3, and 4, but the staff explained that 3 is the lightest, 2 is 21 with a pink undertone, and 4 is a natural tone. After hearing this, I chose to test shade 4, and surprisingly, it wasn't too dark! I opted for 4 due to my redness. I also prefer a more natural look over a lighter tone. Shade 3 is really light, suitable for those lighter than 21, so keep that in mind! 👉🏻 In the last photo, inside the red circle, you can see how the cushion looks applied, though the image quality is poor. Just focus on the tone - it's shade 4, but it's not dark. It's a beautiful ivory color, neither too yellow nor too light. It brightens my complexion by about half a shade, which is perfect! The shade numbering is quite confusing.. It's very inconvenient that shade 2 is darker and more pink-toned than shade 3. I'm glad I visited the offline store! Another thing, it doesn't cover pores at all. Not just poorly, but not at all.. If you have large pores, you'll be disappointed, as I am. I'll update this section with tips if I find any after using it more. 👉🏻 I deducted points from my rating because of this issue. It's a balm, but it's not hard at all - it's incredibly soft and delicate! You'll understand when you touch it yourself. That's why the store staff warned against pressing it like a cushion, as it would damage the product. They advised to gently swipe left and right instead. Even a light touch transfers enough product to the puff, so keep that in mind! This makes it easy to control the amount you use. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
