  Pros

  I've got my hands on Etude's popular little mascara! While they're known for their Lash Perm Curl Fix mascara, this time they've launched a new Volume Fix mascara. It's been released with a brown package to capture that autumn vibe, and the color I received was Brick Brown. Compared to black, it creates a softer, gentler eye look. The curling power is impressive - it holds up without a fixer and doesn't budge at all! There's very little smudging, and the overall quality of the product is quite good.

  Cons

  To be honest... I really love brown mascaras, and while I've used many dark brown ones, this was my first time trying such a light brown color... it was quite a shock. Let's talk about the color first... it's really a red-brown. It's extremely light and true to its 'Brick' name, very reddish... when applied to the eyes, it almost seems to float. For those with very dark eyes like mine, this is a challenging color. Mascara is supposed to make your eyes look clearer and vertically larger, but because the color is so light, it falls short in that aspect, which was really disappointing. As you can see in the third photo, when light hits it, the eyelashes appear whitish. Even if it can't be helped because it's a brick brown color... well... it's not even the lightest shade they offer... it just doesn't work for me. If it weren't for the color... it would have been perfect. Such a shame.

  Pros

  1. While it's marketed for volume, it also has a lash-lengthening effect. The more I applied, the longer my lashes appeared. 2. The mascara wand isn't blunt, making it easy to apply. 3. Compared to the Kjaer Weis mascara which was a struggle to remove even with makeup remover, this one comes off easily with just a couple of swipes - very satisfying! 4. The curl-holding power is decent... and decent is perfect in my book. If you find it droops a bit, just give your lashes another quick curl with an eyelash curler.

  Cons

  1. Since it's not waterproof, there is some smudging. 2. As time passes, it flakes a little bit. 3. While it's labeled as brown, it dries to more of a burgundy shade. It didn't suit my warm-toned skin at all. Perhaps they should rename it to 'Burgundy Brown'...?

  Tip

  To reduce smudging, try pressing some powder onto your lashes with a puff before applying the mascara!
