It feels even richer than Vaseline, so I only use it before bed rather than for everyday use The thick consistency and jar packaging make it inconvenient, as I always have to wash my hands with soap after application - rl*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessSep 18, 2024
The volume is massive - perfect for beast mode skincare! The vanilla-like scent is delightful. It stays put wherever you apply it, never budging an inch. It's so sticky that it feels uncomfortable and suffocating even when sleeping. Because of this, I rarely reach for it... Being in a jar format, you need to scoop it out with your fingers if you don't have a tool, which raises hygiene concerns and makes it annoying to clean off your hands. - sm*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityOct 11, 2022
I received this product as a gift with a tint purchase a while back, but since the texture was quite heavy, I set it aside for winter use and only recently started using it. My lips tend to chap and develop dead skin cells quickly throughout the year, but when I apply this generously on my lips before bed, I wake up to smooth lips in the morning, which is great. Also, given the amount and how little you need to use each time, I think this will last for ages. The texture is beyond thick - it's extremely solid. Usually, with this jar type, you can melt the product with your fingertips, but the surface doesn't melt easily, and when it does, it becomes sticky, making it difficult to apply evenly on the lips. So I've been using a cotton swab to apply it instead. While it does exfoliate well, I found it hard to remove the residue from my lips the next day. Typically, I can rinse it off while washing my face with warm water, but this product feels like it leaves an oil coating that doesn't come off with just cleanser or water. It does come off well with toner pads or wet wipes, but that's a bit of a hassle. - ap****Oily SkinAcne SkinOct 13, 2021
It stays on the lips for a long time, so the hydration is great. It comes in a jar form and has a solid balm texture. It's unscented. The packaging has Rare Kind's unique hip vibe. It's too sticky. It's so sticky that it's hard to remove, and even when drinking water, it doesn't wash off the cup easily. It would be better if it were a little less sticky. Since I received it as a gratis item with a lipstick purchase, it really feels like a freebie. The jar form tends to attract dust. If you apply it before bed, the lip mask remains until morning, which helps soften dead skin cells. However, I don't recommend applying it in the morning before makeup. - gk**********Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedSep 4, 2021
This lip mask is truly the best for lips that suffer from dead skin cells 365 days a year. If you're always reaching for lip balm due to flaky lips, or if you're a matte lipstick lover worried about noticeable dead skin, this is genuinely a lip savior. It provides deep hydration and softens dead skin cells, making them easy to remove. First off, it's challenging to apply. You need to use a cotton swab or your fingernail to scoop it out, as the texture is thick and firm. Especially when applied by hand, you'll need to wash your hands with cleanser afterwards, as the unique thick texture leaves a residue. Moreover, even after washing your face the next morning, there's still residue on your lips. You'll need to wipe it off with a cotton pad after cleansing for best results. Additionally, since it's often a free gift with purchase of other lip products, it's difficult to repurchase once you've used it up. Lastly, it has a subtle vanilla scent which may be hit or miss depending on personal preference, though I personally find the fragrance okay. If you prefer tints or staining lipsticks, or if you're a fan of ultra-matte finishes, try applying a generous layer before bed. The next morning, before washing your face, gently wipe your lips with a wet wipe. You'll notice the dead skin cells and any uneven staining coming off onto the wipe. Softly wipe a couple more times, and you'll be left with smooth, flake-free, moisturized lips ready for even the most matte of lipsticks to glide on perfectly. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedJun 18, 2021
I've used Aritaum's Ginger Sugar Lip Mask for a long time, so I'll compare it with this product. Application and stickiness: The application of Rarekind is better. It melts with body heat and applies smoothly when you scoop it up and gently rub it on your lips. Aritaum, on the other hand, is best described as 'placing' rather than applying - it's not as smooth to spread. It literally sits on your lips. However, having used Aritaum for so long, I'm not sure if this is actually a drawback. Either way, both products leave a layer that remains until morning, keeping lips moisturized. The stickiness is similar, but if I had to choose, Aritaum is slightly thicker. Scent: Rarekind has a caramel scent, while Aritaum has a fresh, lemony fragrance. Personally, I'm not a fan of sweet smells, so I didn't love Rarekind's scent. Lasting hydration: Honestly, I think both products are quite similar in this aspect. Apart from not being fond of the scent personally, there's nothing particularly negative to mention. With Aritaum, you tend to apply more because of its texture, but Rarekind spreads easily so a little goes a long way. Just a small amount is sufficient for even coverage. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 27, 2021
This stuff is absolutely incredible! As someone who uses matte lipsticks frequently, I've tried countless lip balms like Va*eline, Car*ex, Yur*ju, and Biod*rma. But this? This is a game-changer. When my lips are cracked and covered in dead skin cells, I slather this on before bed. Come morning, my lips are as soft as a baby's! While Va*eline can have a similar effect if you use enough, I love that this doesn't melt with body heat, so it doesn't end up in your mouth like Vaseline does. It's beyond thick - it's actually a solid balm that doesn't soften easily. At first, I tried to use it like a regular lip balm, but that didn't work. You need to really dig in and apply with some pressure. The amount you get is generous, and it's truly the best. There's nothing to complain about! I use it generously every night, so I might go through it quickly, but I don't worry about hygiene issues. Plus, the scent is subtle, which I love. Scoop out a good amount and slather it on your lips before sleeping! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedMar 26, 2021
Got the Rarekind lip product with a gratis gift. It's similar to the Aritaum Ginger Lip Mask in terms of hydration. When applied thickly before bed, it leaves your lips in great condition the next morning. Like Vaseline and lip masks, it seems a cotton swab is essential for application. It's a bit bothersome to apply with fingers due to the large amount of product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 5, 2021
I got this as a gratis with my tint purchase! How exciting! It's super thick and sticky, almost solid. When I first tried to apply it, it was so firm I had to scoop it out with some force. Honestly, I found the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask a bit too light for a sleeping mask, but this one feels heavier than Laneige. The chocolate scent is divine! It's a bit challenging to apply. It's incredibly firm, and it tends to squeeze out around the edges. When I apply it to the inner part of my lips, it pushes outwards. I use this alongside the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask before bed. In my routine, this heavier formula takes care of the lip edges, while the lighter Laneige covers the center of my lips. It's the perfect combination! - pk*******Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedDec 8, 2020
1. Hydration This product is amazing for moisturizing! When your lips are flaking like crazy, just a thin layer quickly calms the dead skin cells. I usually keep it on my bedside table and apply it before sleep! If you scoop up a generous amount with your fingernail and slather it on your lips before bed, you can wear matte lipstick all day the next day without any issues. 2. Scent It has a subtle lemon fragrance, but it's not the common sweet lemon candy scent. Instead, it's a truly fresh and zesty lemon aroma! The scent isn't overpowering, just a gentle hint that lifts your mood when you apply it. 3. Texture This might be a love-it-or-hate-it feature, but it has a delightfully thick and gooey consistency. It's a texture that sits plump on your lips, so I'd recommend testing it out! It's perfect for those who want to use it as an overnight lip treatment, but if you're planning to carry it around for regular use, definitely give the texture a try first. 1. Accessibility While lip products are easy to find, lip masks can be tricky to track down. I actually got this as a sample when I bought a lip product. I'm puzzled why Rare Kind doesn't promote their lip mask more. Why on earth are they hiding this gem...?? Before bed, use your fingernail to scoop up a generous amount and apply it to your lips. The next morning, before washing your face, wipe it off with a tissue or wet wipe. You won't have to worry about flaky lips all day!
