It's said to be effective for hyperpigmentation. You can purchase it on iHerb. The smell is overwhelmingly strong... If it gets on clothes or bedding, the stench is unbearable. The texture is oily and can be too heavy for oily skin types. If you must buy it, apply only a small amount and be careful not to get it on your clothes or bedding. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopic SkinNov 14, 2022
It seems to be effective for dark spots. After using it for a month, I feel like they've started to fade. My skin feels like it's reacting badly. Whenever I apply this, it gets itchy. A patch test is absolutely necessary. - hy********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 26, 2022
You can purchase this affordably from iHerb. It's cheaper than domestic brands and the quality is great, so I highly recommend buying from iHerb. While it's a bit harder to control the amount compared to a dropper, it has less air exposure, making it easier to store. The size is also just right, perfect for using up within 6 months. When mixed with cream, it definitely enhances hydration. It increases moisture without feeling overly slippery, making it ideal for those with dry skin. It's not a deeply moisturizing oil, so for those expecting intense hydration, I'd recommend argan oil instead. - cn******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedDec 25, 2021
I'm mixing it with creams or toners to boost hydration and promote skin regeneration Being a natural oil, it seems like it should be used quickly as oils can easily change. The scent might also be hit or miss for some people It's said to be effective for skin blemishes and even athlete's foot. I'd recommend applying a small amount first and observing the effects before regular use - pa*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresOct 22, 2021
I bought Tamanu oil through direct purchase because I heard it's great for blemishes. I've been using it for 3 years, but I think it's time to stop. The pros are that it's fragrance-free and doesn't cause breakouts. Although it's an oil, it's not very moisturizing, which makes it perfect for summer or oily skin types. The downside is that due to its lack of hydration, it's a bit daunting to layer other oils on top. I was satisfied with the pre-reformulation product, but after receiving this new version, I feel like its effectiveness in calming blemishes has significantly decreased. - kd*******Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedFeb 23, 2021
My skin type: Oily with acne scars and occasional breakouts <If other oils are just oils, Tamanu oil is the king of kings> Bought this after another person recommended Tamanu oil. I've been duped by so many 'miracle' products before, but they said it cleared their terrible skin completely, so I decided to give it a try. Scent: Smells like a mix of herbal medicine and wet tree bark after rain. I didn't find it unpleasant, it's quite tolerable. Texture: More on the heavy side rather than a clear oil. That's why I only use it at night. It didn't cause any new blemishes though. Absorption: Doesn't absorb quickly, best applied at night. ★ After 2 weeks of use My nighttime routine: Light toner + Tamanu oil + Avène Cicalfate. And wow! Recent acne scars and brown marks seem to be regenerating, with about 50% improvement. (Usually, just toner and Cicalfate didn't do much, and other oils only gave about 20% results.) Even used it on an old knee scrape that had turned brown, and it disappeared. This outperformed all the recent oils I've tried - rose oil, rosehip oil, tea tree oil, sea buckthorn oil, and Bio-Oil. I feel like I've been missing out on this secret that everyone else knew about. It's frustrating! I bought this affordable Vietnamese version just to experiment, and it still worked wonders. Make sure to apply Tamanu oil followed by Cicalfate, and get to bed before midnight. The regenerative effects were amazing, and it didn't cause any new blemishes. The biggest downside is that oil keeps getting on the cap. Also, for those who experience breakouts or redness, this oil can cause reactions in people with nut allergies, so always patch test before use. ★ Those with nut allergies should test before using! Apply toner, then Tamanu oil, followed by a thin layer of regenerating cream like Cicalfate before sleeping. - im***Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsFeb 18, 2021
I bought this because I heard tamanu oil is good for dark spots, but I don't see many benefits. ▪️Texture: It's a heavy oil. After applying, my skin feels a bit suffocated. ▪️Scent: It smells like a blend of herbal medicine with a hint of mugwort. Although I have sensitive skin, I've used face oils like rosehip and sea buckthorn without any blemishes, so I decided to try this. When I mixed a drop with my cream, there were no issues. However, thinking my skin was dry, I finished with two drops all over my face as the last step, and my skin completely broke out. Around my eyes and mouth, small blisters appeared, and my forehead and cheeks turned into burning sweet potatoes due to the redness... It's awful. For those planning to use this, try mixing a small amount or do a patch test first. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 8, 2021
The hydration and absorption were excellent, and it worked wonders for improving my acne scars. While it's characteristic of tamanu oil, there's a noticeable scent. After applying it to your face, be careful as the oil can transfer to other items if they come in contact with your skin. - pu******Dry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJan 5, 2021
I love how my skin looks brighter the next morning. I apply it right before bed. The scent is quite strong, and it takes a while to get used to it. - wh****Combination SkinRecommendedDec 17, 2020
I bought this on iHerb. Now Foods products seem to be popular, but they were sold out, so I got this as an alternative. While it's heavy and doesn't spread easily, it feels rich and nourishing, probably because it has fewer additives. Despite that, it absorbs quickly without sitting on top of the skin. My forehead and U-zone were extremely flaky due to indoor heating, so after trying various moisturizers, I decided I needed to balance my skin's oil and moisture levels. I chose this product because it's known for its soothing effects. After some trial and error, I found a routine that reduced daytime dryness and flaking: 1. Cleanse and tone 2. Apply toner again 3. Apply this Tamanu oil to flaky areas 4. Once absorbed, apply moisturizer. For morning makeup, I layer a light moisturizer like birch sap cream, and at night, I generously apply a heavier cream like The Lab by Blanc Doux. I'll need to test it for a few more weeks, but so far I'm satisfied! The texture is quite heavy, so it doesn't spread easily. It's best to apply this product sparingly to specific areas or mix it with other creams. Many reviews mention an unpleasant smell, but I actually like the earthy, natural scent. The quantity is too small for the price.
