Skin type: 19-20 shade, cool undertone, dry skin (severe deep dryness) I bought this after seeing many reviews praising its coverage. When applied with a spatula, it goes on incredibly thin while still providing excellent coverage. If you maintain a good skincare routine, you won't feel any dryness. What I loved most was the wide range of shades available, giving plenty of options to choose from! Right after application, there was some patchiness. As time passed, even with my dry skin, I noticed oil buildup in the T-zone. So, I wouldn't recommend this product for those with oily T-zones! Using it with a spatula allows for a really thin, even application. While some people say it works well with a Picasso sponge, I found it slightly removed the foundation. Instead, I've found it pairs perfectly with an IOPE puff, which is how I've been using it! - Hwahae UserOily SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 25, 2022
This foundation is truly exceptional! It's even better than Double Wear, which was the undisputed champion. The coverage is excellent, and it creates a flawlessly smooth skin appearance. The best part? Its adherence is so incredibly good that it doesn't transfer to your mask at all! There's hardly any breakdown throughout the day, and even if there is, it doesn't look messy. It doesn't settle into pores, fills them nicely, and I'm just completely satisfied. It's easy to apply, and the texture is so thin that it looks beautiful. The color is a clear, bright ivory. Please don't discontinue this product! There's honestly nothing to complain about... I'm wondering why this isn't more popular! Those with dry skin might find it a bit drying, though. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedNov 5, 2020
I've been using this for over half a year now. I wanted to achieve a brighter complexion, so I purchased A01, and I'm very satisfied with it. What I love most is that it almost completely eliminates any yellow undertones. There weren't really any downsides. If I had to pick something, I'd say the foundation itself isn't particularly lightweight, but that's about it. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinJun 4, 2020
After using Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Cool Bone for years, I noticed it was getting darker than my skin tone, so I became a foundation nomad. Then I tried this VDL foundation: 1. Color range: VDL offers a wide range of shades. I have fair skin (lighter than shade 21, around 17-19), and A01 made me look a bit yellow, but not too dark. The color match was decent overall. 2. Staying power: I have extremely oily skin, but this foundation's longevity is impressive in winter, spring, and fall! If I rub my eyes or scratch, it might create a small 'hole' in that specific area, but it doesn't require touch-ups elsewhere. Despite my oily, sweaty skin, it doesn't break down or look messy. It holds up really well! Ugh... I bought this because it was my friend's holy grail, but it really doesn't work for me at all! Double Wear was my holy grail, but it was terrible for her... I guess we've swapped holy grails and duds! 1. Adherence: Despite my extremely oily skin, this foundation starts pilling as soon as I apply it. It settles into my pores terribly and looks so patchy... My boyfriend even commented that my cheeks looked really cakey! Usually, my oily skin accepts most matte products without much prep, but this one is exceptionally bad. If I try to touch up my eyebrows or make small adjustments after applying it, the foundation cracks and slides off. It makes me want to wash my face and stay home! 2. Allergic reaction: I have sensitive skin and used to react badly to products when I was younger. As I got older, I could use most foundations without issues. But wow... with this one, my face starts itching after a few hours. When I remove my makeup, I find a few blemishes on my cheeks. I rarely get acne, so this is really disappointing. The itching continues for days! I think I'll just give this to the friend who recommended it as her holy grail... What a letdown! - ha********Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessRecommendedFeb 28, 2020
Looking at the photos and reviews, you can see the list of foundations I've used so far. I pride myself on using well-reviewed products, and among them, I thought the VDL Perfecting Lasting Foundation offered good value for money. After using that, I decided to try something new. Packaging: I always find VDL packaging to be clean and luxurious. This one is slimmer than the Perfecting Lasting Foundation, making it more comfortable to hold. Generous gratis: I often shop online, and with a little searching, you can find VDL products with lots of freebies. I can't remember exactly, but I think it came with a mini color corrector set, a brush, a mini lipstick, and foundation samples. I purchased it through Galleria Department Store on Naver Shopping. The free mini lipstick had a great color and application. Reasonable price: Including the main product, freebies, and samples, I got it for 31,000 won with a 7,000 won Naver Pay discount. The original price was 38,000 won. Color: I usually have a 21 shade complexion, but I prefer a slightly lighter look. I switched from A02 to A01 after trying the M01 sample. It's a bright shade without being too yellow or red. Matte finish: It's more matte than the Perfecting Lasting Foundation, but still applies well. It's great for those who like a powder-fresh look or for summer use. On good skin days, it gives a clean finish. Decent coverage: While not high-coverage, it can conceal light spots and small blemishes. If you don't have major skin issues, you shouldn't find it lacking. No darkening: You don't need to worry about your face turning ashy or darker than before application. Average longevity: While not exceptional, it lasts at least 3 hours, up to 5-6 hours. It doesn't get oily when it starts to fade, unlike some dewy foundations that can get greasy around the nose. No significant blemishes or irritation. While not amazing, I've nearly finished a bottle since September. There weren't any major drawbacks that made me want to stop using it or throw it away. Dryness: The matte texture inevitably leads to some dryness. It feels fine when applied, but deep dryness becomes noticeable over time. Emphasis on dead skin cells: Due to the dryness, it can emphasize wrinkles and make skin look dull on bad skin days. If you have dry skin, make sure to hydrate thoroughly before application. It doesn't feel super fresh on the skin, but it's not overly heavy or noticeable either. Breakdown: All foundations eventually break down, but this one does so in a unique way. At some point, you might notice the foundation clumping into lines, as if it wasn't applied evenly. You can pat it out, but I wonder if it's just me experiencing this? If I were to buy a VDL foundation again, I'd choose the Perfecting Lasting Foundation. I probably won't repurchase this one, though it's still above average. If I had to rate it, I'd give it about 3.5 out of 5. On days when my skin feels particularly dry, I first apply an oily base like La Roche-Posay tone-up cream or Missha Super Aqua BB cream, which have some oil or moisture content. Then I use a beauty blender to apply this foundation on top. It helps the makeup adhere better. Due to its dryness, it might be more suitable for summer use rather than winter. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedNov 9, 2019
It held up better than other foundations and the color came out beautifully. I'm definitely considering repurchasing. There wasn't really anything disappointing, except maybe the slight darkening effect? - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 24, 2019
Great for oily skin types and really helps build a solid skincare foundation. Quite satisfying to use in the summer. Well, in my opinion, there aren't any significant drawbacks. Just make sure to establish a solid skincare routine for the best results. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedJun 16, 2019
I love that there are 6 color options to choose from. I used shade A01. I usually go for 21 or lighter, and A01 was perfectly bright and just right for me. Using it, I can see why it's called 'Perfect Fit' - the adherence is excellent. It clings to the skin thinly with minimal transfer, creating a beautiful complexion. I love how it gives a smooth, flawless finish. The finish is on the matte side. It sets to a powder-like feel, making it perfect for summer use. While it doesn't feel dry inside, as someone with dry skin, I found it even more satisfying when I applied a solid skincare base and finished with a hydrating setting spray. I used a separate concealer for major blemishes, but the foundation itself has decent coverage. Unlike other high-coverage foundations that can apply thick and look unnatural, this one provides good coverage without feeling heavy. The staying power is truly impressive. Thanks to its good adherence and semi-matte finish, it barely breaks down over time, eliminating the need for touch-ups. I hate when foundations settle into wrinkles or emphasize texture as they wear off, but this one doesn't do that at all. Due to its strong adherence, I noticed some slight pore-clogging around the sides of my nose. It's not severe, but becomes a bit more noticeable as the foundation wears down over time. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 13, 2019
The shade was perfect for me - not too pinkish or yellow, but just right in the middle. Despite being a formula that could potentially look cakey or dry, it applied smoothly and evenly. As someone with bear-like skin who always used cushions, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautifully this foundation went on. I was disappointed that it broke down quickly around my nose and forehead. For me, the longevity was just average at best. I apply it with the Skinfood wedge puff, and it gives a beautiful finish with great adherence and skin texture. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 6, 2019
The coverage and adherence were both excellent. I loved how it gave me a radiant complexion. It sets quite quickly, so you need to apply it fast. You might want to use it with a primer for best results.
