It's great for oily, dry, and sensitive skin types. As it's my first time trying a Pyunkang Yul product, I was super excited to use it. The madecassoside ingredient is said to be beneficial for sensitive skin. It's a slightly acidic toner, and I was satisfied with its dead skin cell removal properties too. When applied with a cotton pad, it naturally exfoliates and leaves a soft finish. Despite being a hydrating toner, it doesn't evaporate quickly and has a slight richness to it (the moisturizing effect really lasts). While there's debate about whether exfoliating toners are good or not, I felt this product would be even better if used as an exfoliating toner. My nose tip has been dry lately despite the summer weather, but after using this as an exfoliating toner, it became smooth and hydrated!
ConsAs someone who prefers natural scents, I found the fragrance a bit artificial rather than natural. The slightly oily finish made it a bit challenging to use with other skincare products. For me, I think I prefer toners that evaporate quickly, leaving the skin deeply hydrated but with a smooth surface. That works better when applying serums or ampoules afterward. I wish it was a toner that could be applied immediately after cleansing without leaving an oily feeling.

The design is also quite pretty. It would make a great gift in summer, giving off a cool vibe with its attractive packaging. This toner seems perfect for gifting! The texture feels watery, but when applied to the face, it's incredibly silky smooth. I love how it feels like the hydration doesn't evaporate away!
ConsThe fragrance was a bit disappointing. It has an artificial scent that I didn't really like. While the scent isn't overpowering, those with sensitivity to fragrances might find it a bit off-putting.

It's a pure toner that's perfect for those with combination dehydrated skin like mine, which tends to be a bit sensitive. When applied, there's no irritation or stickiness. It's so gentle that you can even use it as an exfoliating toner by soaking a cotton pad with a generous amount and gently wiping your face!
ConsThe one downside I noticed while using this product is the scent. It has a somewhat artificial or chemical smell. If you're particularly sensitive to fragrances, you might pick up on this. It's reminiscent of that chemical liquid smell you might encounter in a science lab, which is a bit disappointing.
TipIt's so gentle and effective that you can use it as an exfoliating toner by saturating a cotton pad with the product and gently wiping your face. It leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed!

I was worried it might be too rich, but the finish was clean and my blemishes were calmed down the next day, which I loved! Even the hard, red blemishes subsided, and overall my face became softer. It definitely has a soothing effect on blemishes. Plus, I really like the clean packaging!
ConsThe scent isn't pleasant... It has a strong smell similar to rubber, and it doesn't disappear quickly after application. I think this aspect might be polarizing for some users.

My skin is naturally thin and delicate, so it reacts quickly to even the slightest irritation. That's why I'm meticulous about checking ingredient lists when choosing skincare products, and I tend to avoid products with potentially irritating or allergy-triggering components. When I heard I was selected for The Hwahae Testers to try the Pyunkang Yul Calming Deep Moisture Toner, I immediately checked its ingredients. I was thrilled to see such a gentle formulation. The clean ingredient list, free from any concerning or allergenic substances, really impressed me. I've been using it consistently since the day I received it, and I'm satisfied just knowing it's hydrating without causing any irritation or blemishes! I also appreciated that it has a water-like texture, similar to my previous toner. Heavier formulas can feel burdensome, but this one seems perfect for daily use. Despite its fluid consistency, it provides long-lasting hydration. While I haven't been using it long enough to notice effects on pores or sebum reduction, I can confidently say it's excellent for soothing and tightening the skin, with a pleasant application and feel. That alone makes it a toner that fulfills its purpose, in my opinion. The best thing I've noticed so far is that my skin texture has become as smooth as a peeled egg, probably due to the gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells! Overall, it's a satisfying product that stays true to its function as a toner - clean and non-irritating.
ConsWhile it's close to being fragrance-free, there's a very slight scent reminiscent of alcohol or ethanol. This might be off-putting for those sensitive to fragrances, but I didn't find it particularly unpleasant. It gives a sense of disinfecting and calming the skin...
TipAfter cleansing, I remove excess water and apply the toner generously to cotton pads, placing them on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. Once it's absorbed sufficiently, I gently wipe my entire face to refine the skin texture. Then, I pat on a hydrating serum and follow up with a moisturizing cream. This routine leaves my skin hydrated and smoothed to perfection!

Packaging: The matte wrapper with a deep green color combination is eye-catching. I kept looking at it because the design was so pretty when I received it. 2. Reasonable price: With so many overpriced products these days, I appreciated that this one was moderately affordable. 3. Absorbs well: Compared to other brands (like Dokdo Toner), it seemed to absorb more quickly. 4. Not sticky: I've tried several toners and sometimes felt a slight stickiness, but this product left my skin feeling fresh and dry, which I really liked.
Cons1. The opening was difficult to tear: It didn't open smoothly in one go, which was a bit disappointing. 2. Compared to my current toner (Dokdo Toner), it felt slightly stiff: It wasn't extremely stiff, but I noticed this difference compared to other brands. 3. Scent: It seems unscented, but there's a slight... artificial scent? It's not completely fragrance-free, maybe 5 out of 100 in terms of scent intensity. To me, it smelled a bit artificial. 4. Leaky bottle opening: Being a toner, the opening tends to drip quite a bit. I had to wipe it with a tissue after 2-3 uses for storage. Additionally, this isn't really a drawback, but I've only been using it for about a week, so I can't claim any dramatic effects yet. I'll need to use it longer to know for sure. If possible, I'll leave another review after a month of use.

This product felt almost like water as a toner. Being water-based, I was hoping for good moisture retention. However, from the moment I applied it, I could tell it was different. Unlike water, it felt like it created a thin moisturizing layer, which I loved. Plus, it had a slightly refreshing feel, which was great. ★ Irritation: I didn't even realize it contained PHA because there was no irritation at all. ★ Absorption: The absorption was incredible, to the point where I'd say it's top-tier! ★ Soothing: When I applied it as a toner pack on blemishes that were about to become inflamed, they quickly subsided. It seems good for early intervention. Summary: A quickly absorbing, non-sticky hydrating toner
Cons★ Scent: While it's close to being unscented, there was a slight fragrance. It had a very faint alcohol-like scent, about 1/100th of the usual intensity.
Tip** Note: This is not a tip ** I was impressed from the moment I saw the delivery box. They had written a message on the box thanking the delivery drivers and wishing them safe driving. The product itself seemed well-designed too. The packaging paper felt soft to the touch despite being paper. It's a shame it tore so easily when I tried to open it though.

After wiping with a cotton pad, it's so refreshing! I mainly used it as an exfoliating toner, and it effectively removed any residual impurities after cleansing (those lingering yellow sebum bits....). It left my skin feeling hydrated, making it an excellent first step in my skincare routine. I love that it's practically fragrance-free, has no visible colorants, and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh.
ConsThere's a faint smell that reminds me of a kitchen dishcloth... I'm not sure if it's coming from the cotton pads or the toner itself, but it's a bit off-putting when I wipe around my nose area. Since other reviews don't mention any odor, it might just be my super sensitive skin or perhaps an issue with the cotton pads I'm using.

Even though this Pyunkang Yul toner is the only change I've made to my skincare routine, I've definitely noticed less oil production. Usually, a few hours after applying my skincare, my face would get oily, but since switching to this, there's comparatively less oil coming through. While I'm not sure about its effectiveness in smoothing dead skin cells or calming the skin, I'm satisfied just with the fact that it keeps my skin from getting too oily.
ConsThis might just be me, but when I smell it closely, there's a slight plastic-like scent. When applying it to my skin, I thought it was unscented because I couldn't smell anything. However, when I dispensed some onto my hand before application and took a whiff, I was surprised to detect a plastic smell. But unless you're actively trying to smell it, you won't notice any scent at all.

It has a texture that's perfect for those who find runny toners too heavy and water toners insufficient. That said, it might be better suited for combination dehydrated or oily skin types who dislike water toners, rather than for those with dry skin. The ingredients also seem safe, without any harmful components. The packaging is convenient for those who, like me, prefer to apply it with a cotton pad.
ConsWhile it's good that there's no added fragrance, there's a chemical scent reminiscent of MAC's old Studio Fix foundation - an artificial smell that's a bit bothersome during application, though it fades after absorption. For context, my favorite toners are the Dokdo Toner and Abib Heartleaf pads, which absorb cleanly while providing hydration. This toner, probably due to its high content of purified water, propanediol, and glycerin, has a unique feel. It does provide more hydration than a water toner, but it's like it leaves a very thin film on the skin. It's not as thick as silicone-based products, but it doesn't absorb completely for that clean finish. Personally, I didn't like this, but those who enjoy a light, film-like feeling might appreciate it. Although it claims to be hydrating and soothing, while I did feel some hydration, I didn't experience any soothing effects at all. When I switched from my Abib pads to this toner (keeping the rest of my routine the same), I didn't notice any increase in hydration or better soothing effects. In fact, I developed a few small whiteheads, which disappeared when I went back to my original routine. It doesn't seem to suit my combination dehydrated skin with overactive sebaceous glands. I think if they had removed either propanediol or glycerin and added more soothing ingredients instead, it might have lived up to its claims better.
TipI'd recommend this to those who typically find products with high glycerin and propanediol content suitable, and not recommend it to those who don't. I also tried using it as a toner mask - while it felt nicely moisturizing right after, by the next day there was no difference compared to just applying it with a cotton pad. So rather than using it as a mask, I'd suggest applying it generously with a cotton pad and letting it absorb.
