I find that toners are the skincare product I go through the fastest. That's why I end up trying a variety of them, and right now I'm using the Binu Won Houttuynia Cordata Toner. One of the best things about this toner is its high concentration of Houttuynia Cordata extract. Usually, water takes up most of the ingredient list, with the advertised extracts only present in small amounts. But this toner has a high content of the star ingredient, which is great. It's a spray-type toner that you apply by spritzing onto a cotton pad and gently wiping in the direction of your skin texture. I find that 3-4 sprays are enough for a full application. Sometimes toners can sting and irritate the skin, but this one is alcohol-free, allowing for gentle use without any irritation. I think it would be suitable even for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. Plus, it has a subtle, pleasant aroma that really lifts my mood. You need to shake the bottle before use. It's not really a drawback, but I'll mention it anyway. To mix aromatic oils well with water, you typically need to add emulsifiers. However, emulsifiers aren't great for skin health. That's why this toner doesn't contain any emulsifiers. Instead of using these potentially harmful ingredients, they've opted for a formula that requires a bit of shaking before use. Don't forget this step! - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedMar 18, 2021
I like that it's not too harsh on the skin. I'd recommend it if you're dealing with blemishes. I use it as a toner, and occasionally wipe with a cotton pad - it seems to help with dead skin cells removal. The finish feels clean and fresh! Being natural, the scent might be a bit divisive. The fragrance is slightly disappointing. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedMar 17, 2021
It's perfect for spot treatment and worked well for my daughter with blemishes. We've been consistently using it along with the toner and houttuynia cordata essence, and it's been really soothing her skin. I plan to keep using it for my kids until they're through puberty. When applied by hand, it leaves a slightly sticky feeling. It's really great for blemishes, but because of the stickiness, I always use it with cotton pads. Using cotton pads helps remove dead skin cells while also being effective in calming blemishes. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 30, 2020
It helped calm my blemishes (though not dramatically). The product feels hydrating. While it did have a soothing effect, I didn't get the impression that existing blemishes were reduced. It just felt slightly calming. The spray format allows you to apply it like a mist, which is convenient. - ek********Combination SkinSensitive SkinJan 3, 2020
Despite being a houttuynia cordata product, it has a pleasant scent. Usually, houttuynia cordata doesn't smell great. The herbal aroma is quite nice. The ingredients are good too, except for the essential oils. I won't repurchase any facial products from Soap Factory after their houttuynia cordata toner (though I still use their soaps, except for the shampoo bar). Lured by the nice fragrance, I used it, but inevitably my face became itchy and irritated. I think the essential oils added for fragrance or the high concentration of natural ingredients didn't suit my skin. While their customer service is sincere and friendly when dealing with blemishes, I've never requested or received a refund. It's frustrating when issues arise after purchase, and it's hard to predict beforehand. The reviews on Soap Factory's site mostly seem positive, perhaps due to the owner's consistent replies and the family-like atmosphere created by long-time customers. There doesn't appear to be review filtering, yet positive reviews dominate. If you have super sensitive skin, please thoroughly test products containing essential oils before use to avoid regretting it while visiting a dermatologist later. It's disappointing for those with sensitive skin when both the fragrance and ingredients seem good. Always do a patch test on your neck, which is closer to facial skin. Those with sensitive skin may have allergic reactions to natural ingredients. Even if a patch test on your arm is fine, it might be different on your face. They provide plenty of samples, so use those before opening the full-size product or request samples. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedAug 14, 2019
I've been using this for about 4 years now! It has a bit of a scent due to the houttuynia cordata, but I've gotten used to it over time. After getting married, my husband and I started using it together, and his skin has noticeably improved and become more balanced. Before, he had adult acne and a lot of sebum buildup in his pores, but after using it for over 2 years, we've seen great results! These days, there's hardly anything left to squeeze out, which is actually a bit disappointing! The downside is that it runs out quickly since my husband and I use it together. I also spray it on my body 2-3 times a week, which feels refreshing and nice. I use it even more frequently on my back, which helps with back skin care too! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 7, 2019
It has a nice hydrating feel and seems pretty decent to use overall. I think it might be causing some slight blemishes to appear... - ky*****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJan 28, 2019
I've been using this for 3 years already! I love how it feels lighter than other toners. I've used it for a long time, but I haven't noticed any significant improvement or deterioration in my skin. - sh*****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedDec 16, 2018
I've been using this for several bottles now! I bought it because I heard houttuynia cordata is good for blemishes, and since I started using this toner, my acne has really decreased. While it doesn't completely prevent breakouts, I'm only left with minor blemishes now. It doesn't have any dramatically amazing effects, just some soothing properties. Also, I'm a bit disappointed with the amount. It runs out faster than I expected. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedAug 4, 2018
I feel reassured using this on bare skin since it's free from harmful ingredients. Although it's not a medicinal product and may have milder effects, I appreciate that it's gentle and doesn't cause any blemishes. When I first used it, there was a slight tingling sensation on my skin, but now I don't feel that at all. Bionure also sells natural soaps, which I've been using, and I've been able to use their products for a long time without any major skin issues. Perhaps because it uses distilled mugwort leaf water as its base, after applying, there's a slight stickiness on my palms and face. It's not an unpleasant feeling, but there's a certain texture that lingers. It's not uncomfortable, but having only used refreshing, water-like toners before, this sensation was new to me and took some getting used to.
