True to its name 'Whip Shield Cream', it has an airy, foam-like consistency. Initially, I thought it might pill when applied, but surprisingly it absorbs well without any pilling. It's truly fascinating. I haven't tried layering it under sunscreen during the day though. It seems to focus more on moisturizing rather than hydration. However, it doesn't feel overly rich or greasy. It has that signature Sekkisei skincare cotton scent, which makes application a pleasant experience.
ConsSince it's more focused on moisturizing than hydration, there isn't much difference whether you apply a thick or thin layer. This means you need to ensure good hydration in your previous skincare steps. While the unique texture and feel are nice, it doesn't seem to have any standout functional benefits, which makes it feel a bit pricey. At this price point, I'd probably just go for the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream instead.
TipThe Sekkisei brand is only available online, but if you time it right, you can sometimes find great deals on SSG or Lotte ON with lots of freebies and discounts, plus additional card discounts for a much better price. Currently, there's only a 10% discount, but in the past, they've had regular discounts of up to 25%. It's likely they'll have bigger sales again in the future, so it might be worth waiting and combining coupons and card discounts for the best deal.
