It doesn't get too dry or cakey, and the lasting power is great! If you use it in areas where your makeup usually breaks down, it really doesn't budge and lasts a long time.

Pros
The essence has a smooth application, like gliding on the skin. After rolling it on with a light hand, the makeup applies well and has great staying power. When I use this and then do my base makeup, there is absolutely no creasing in my laugh lines or any lifting of the foundation.
Cons
The pumping mechanism is really problematic - please improve it, it's just not good. It would be better if it came in a tube that you can squeeze. Also, on the days I use this, there seems to be some kind of thick, rough texture that comes up, almost like flaky skin.
