After living with seborrheic dermatitis and relying on prescription treatments, I've steered clear of supermarket shampoos. I've tried various products, realizing that 'good ingredients' don't always work for everyone. It's about finding what suits you, even if it contains some less-than-ideal components. I'm on my 11th bottle of the Ginger Shampoo (as of 2017). Concerned about overuse, I've tried mixing it 3:1 with other shampoos and even taking breaks to use alternatives. But nothing else keeps my scalp inflammation-free, odorless, and calm like this one. Even my husband, who used to swear by L'Oreal, now only wants the Ginger Shampoo. For oily scalps prone to heat and dryness, this seems to be the answer. In my 7-year journey with seborrheic dermatitis, this shampoo stands out. Here's my personal experience with various brands: • TS: Ambiguous cleansing feel, caused inflammation. • Witch's Potion: Despite good Hwahae reviews, it caused severe inflammation. Even my husband with normal scalp complained of itchiness. The hair texture after drying was unpleasant too. Overall, one of the worst shampoos I've used recently. • Aromatica Rosemary: Quite good, loved the scent. One of the satisfying products, though a bit runny. • Aromatica Dust: Thin consistency, ambiguous feel, caused itchiness. • Avalon Biotin: Not recommended. Itchy and worsened hair texture. • iHerb shampoos: Generally not recommended for scalp use. • Rausch: Clean feel but didn't improve scalp condition or control odor. • René Furterer: Great for scalp soothing, used 4 bottles. Reduced inflammation. • Green Tea Silkam: Unmemorable, likely average performance. Additional experiences (2018-2024): • Tried various brands like Skingen, Aveda, Dr. Bronner's, Alpecin, and more. • Rene Furterer Forticea: Good but opt for tube packaging. • Roma: Seems beneficial but the scent is off-putting. • Moo Bamboo Mint: Decent summer option with cooling effect. • Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree: Great for body, cleared back acne. • Ginger Conditioner: Minimal difference, don't confuse with shampoo. • Ginger Shampoo: Consistently used throughout. Recent experiences (2022-2024) for oily, seborrheic scalp: • Rene Furterer: Doesn't control oil well. • Head & Shoulders Clinical Strength: Caused inflammation. • Roma (various types): Generally good, especially the purple color-protecting one. • Aromatica Tea Tree: Seems suitable for summer. • Head & Spa green bottle: Better than Moremo Water Treatment, used about 5 bottles. • Moroccanoil: Non-irritating for face and scalp. • Ginger Shampoo: Still using it with great results.
No large size available. The best deal price is around $10 for 400ml.
The best combination for my scalp was using the Ginger Shampoo regularly with René Furterer twice a week. This routine kept my scalp in great condition, even during highly stressful periods at work, preventing any inflammation.
