It moisturizes well, and when I wake up the next morning, my skin feels smooth as if the dead skin cells have been removed. My makeup applies beautifully, and in photos, my face looks polished with a natural glow.
ConsHaving super sensitive skin, I'm prone to blemishes from various triggers. When applying this, I sometimes experience a tingling sensation, and occasionally get blemishes along my forehead and hairline. While I can't definitively blame this product alone, I've been using it intermittently to observe its effects. I've found that BHA seems more effective for exfoliation and preventing blemishes caused by dead skin cell buildup.
TipApply gently and focus on areas with excess oil production rather than all over the face. Don't use it like you would wipe with a toner.

I wonder what I've done to myself for a moment of happiness.
ConsI used to be a guy with skin that even women envied. But suddenly, as I became an adult, I started getting some acne. Even the tiniest marks bothered me, so while surfing the internet, I learned about BHA and bought it from Paula's Choice. At first, it was great - the marks faded. However, when I stopped using it, I noticed my sebum production increased and my skin felt thinner. Thinking it might just be me, I searched online and even consulted a doctor. They said using BHA daily is like drinking alcohol every day... I ended up damaging my skin more with this product. If you dig a little, you'll find that while it might seem beneficial in the short term, it's actually more harmful in the long run. I'm planning to hit up a dermatologist as soon as I get into college... it's really tormenting. Everyone, if you're thinking of using this product just to erase acne scars, please go to a dermatologist instead. Your skin is money, and that money is best spent at a dermatologist for real improvement. Simple care might work with cosmetics, but for serious issues...

If I had to mention one good thing, it would be the friendly staff at Paula's Choice.
ConsI've never experienced such a severe skin reaction in my life. I usually avoid taking medication due to a sensitive stomach, but this was different. My skin flared up on Saturday, and I thought it would calm down on its own. By Monday, it had spread even more! I was so shocked that I rushed to the doctor and got a 3-day prescription. The redness has subsided a bit with the medication, but I still feel angry and sad every time I look in the mirror. The self-doubt is real... I have no idea when my skin will return to normal. I wish I could go back to how my skin was before using this product. I bought it because of a single blemish, hoping for smooth skin and blemish prevention. Please be extremely cautious if you decide to use it - the irritation is intense. I should have just extracted that blemish instead... I bought this product because I didn't want to pop it, and now I deeply regret it. After this disaster, I tried using Paula's Choice Skin Balancing line, but even that didn't feel trustworthy. Now I've temporarily switched to Innisfree Blueberry Foam Cleanser.
TipNothing to add!

The pump dispenser makes it hygienic to use.
ConsI had to stop using it because it caused a sudden outbreak of small blemishes. My complexion became uneven and blotchy.

It applies smoothly without running down the face.
ConsAfter about 5 days of use, I've started noticing blemishes on my face since the day before yesterday.

ConsI heard that AHA and BHA can cause breakouts initially, but I'm still getting small blemishes in the third week. I'm not sure if I need to keep using it longer, but I'm planning to continue anyway

Although I wasn't satisfied with the results, I still trusted the brand. As a last resort, I decided to use this product with low concentrations of both AHA and BHA. The pros are that it smells nice - a natural cucumber scent, not artificial. It's not overpowering and has a pleasant, natural fragrance. For a Paula's Choice product, the texture and feel were quite user-friendly.
ConsYou know that feeling right after application? I had a bad feeling, and sure enough, painful, large blemishes appeared all over my face. I used it for one round, and that happened. So I stopped for a couple of rounds, and it seemed to calm down. My results were: Paula's Choice AHA - caused small pimples, redness (with prolonged use) Paula's Choice BHA - caused deep dryness, emphasized dead skin cells when applying makeup Combined product - caused deep, cystic blemishes This happened no matter how I adjusted the amount... Adjusting the frequency doesn't make sense for these types of products, as you need to use them at least once daily before bed to see any effects in daily life (I bought products with not-too-high concentrations for this reason). Rather than sticking with Paula's Choice exfoliants and risking these issues, I chose to switch to a different brand. My conclusion is that Paula's Choice products may or may not show actual effects on the skin (their antioxidant serum didn't work for me even after using several bottles over years), but the side effects can be severe. It's an unstable brand in a way. My boyfriend's skin also flared up after using Paula's Choice once and struggled for a while. I used their Skin Balancing Toner and the same line's antioxidant serum along with the exfoliant for years, and I consistently had small pimples or regular blemishes throughout that time. I feel a bit regretful that I was so slow to realize this...
TipI'm on a journey to find other products now! My small pimples have already improved a lot. If I'm lucky enough to settle on an affordable option, I'll be able to save money too!

It absorbs really well.
ConsWorst product ever. My face stung terribly after applying it. When I asked about it in Paula's Choice Q&A, they said it's normal at first, so I kept using it. My skin completely broke out, and even after visiting a dermatologist, it hasn't fully recovered. Those with sensitive or blemish-prone skin, please be extremely careful when choosing this product.

It's not a wash-off type, so you can simply apply it before bed without any hassle. I also appreciate that it comes in a pump bottle, allowing you to use every last drop.
ConsDon't expect dramatic results. It's designed for daily use, so it contains less AHA/BHA compared to other exfoliators. I question whether it's a must-have product. Plus, at 37,000 won for 50ml, it's pricey even with discounts. The texture isn't great either - it's a bit thick, making it difficult to spread thinly and evenly. Residue at the nozzle can harden, leading to unpleasant clumps when pumping later. Lastly, don't mistake this for a standalone emulsion! While it has an emulsion-like texture, it lacks moisturizing ingredients. I once skipped my regular emulsion while using this, which threw off my skin's oil and moisture balance, causing more blemishes. Always follow up with a separate moisturizer after this product has fully absorbed.
TipAs advertised, using this with the Resist Weekly 10% enhances the effects. However, consider whether it's worth spending so much on such a small amount. It's wise to find more affordable alternatives where possible. You might want to check out Sidmool products as an option.
