Hello there! I'm a Hwahae user who won the chance to try out the Hazzys Man Rule 429 Refreshing Toner through The Hwahae Testers program. Let's dive into this review! First up, the packaging. My first impression: the green bottle is pretty eye-catching. It's got a nice weight to it, and the size is just right. I'll touch on the spray nozzle in the 'cons' section later. Next, the scent. The smell is absolutely fantastic! It's right up my alley. If I had to describe it, it's like a subtle men's cologne? I can't really speak to how long the scent lasts (it's not meant to be a perfume, after all), but it's not overpowering at all. For fragrance, I'd give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. While scent preferences can vary, I think this one would be widely appealing. Now, let's talk about the user experience. Comparing it to my previous toner, the 'Dr. J* Red Ble*ish Soothing Toner' (my first-ever toner), the Hazzys toner absorbs noticeably faster. While I used to apply my old toner quite liberally due to its large quantity, the 'Hazzys Man Rule 429' toner clearly absorbs better into my skin. When I first started using the Dr. J* toner, I experienced some tingling that eventually subsided, but with this product, there was no irritation at all - my skin adapted immediately. That's why I've switched to using this product exclusively now. The texture is light and not sticky at all. It's thin but doesn't drip everywhere, and there's zero stickiness. As someone with oily skin who dislikes heavy products, I really appreciate how lightweight this toner feels. It doesn't seem to skimp on hydration either. While the toner alone might not provide all the moisture you need (which is typical for most toners), using it in combination with an emulsion should give you ample hydration. Overall, I'm really impressed with this product. The scent, in particular, is a big hit for me. I'll definitely be repurchasing. While it's 200ml, it would be great to snag it on sale. Taking into account the minor drawbacks I'll mention below, I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars. As a consumer, I do think they could reconsider the design of the cap (spray part), though.
ConsI have to admit, I was a bit frustrated right at the start when I first opened and tried to use the product. I'm not sure if it was just my bottle, but every time I pressed the spray nozzle, the product would splash all over my hand and drip down the bottle. I ended up just opening the cap and using it that way, which worked fine. I'm not sure if I got a faulty bottle or if this is a common issue, but the spray mechanism was really hard to press and the product just poured out. While everything else about the product is great, I'm not sure why they chose this particular packaging. While spraying directly on the face is okay, I don't think it's necessary. In my opinion, a flip-top cap or some other dispensing method might have been better.
TipI ended up just using it with the cap open, and it wasn't difficult to control the amount at all! Not sure if they'll change it in the future, but it works just fine to twist open and use!
