It's great for sensitive skin and seems suitable when there's excess oil production. Surprisingly, it applies smoothly with a silky texture that's not too thick.
ConsIt can feel greasy if you apply too much. Since it's a balm formula, it's best to use it as the final step after thoroughly hydrating your skin. It might be a bit drying if used in winter.

No major blemishes, and it absorbs well, so I'll use it as the final step after applying my cream. Update after about a month - I applied a thick layer on an angry red blemish that couldn't be popped before bed, and it had noticeably calmed down by the next morning~ Turns out it wasn't ineffective after all! I'm not sure how it would work on pustules, but it definitely helped reduce the ones that couldn't be popped.
ConsIn winter, it lacks enough hydration to be used alone like a cream.

Their infrequent new product launches contribute to the brand's trustworthiness (being a derma brand helps too). Among their lineup, I consider this Cica Balm the absolute best. It's simply top-notch. While it seems they've rebranded it as a spot balm during a packaging update, I still slather it all over my face on days when my skin feels super sensitive. Thanks to its calamine content, which may help with sebum absorption, it seems to target acne-prone areas. However, it's fantastic for all types of skin that need soothing. Earlier this year, I overdid it with exfoliating pads and various exfoliants (scrubs, peels, AHAs, BHAs, etc.), which left my face in a mess. I had something akin to contact dermatitis, with redness lasting over a week. During that time, this was the only product my skin tolerated. While other creams and skincare items didn't worsen the situation, they didn't provide any relief either. This balm, however, when applied generously, noticeably calmed my skin by the next morning. That's when I became obsessed with Rovectin's Cica line. Since then, I've used it without fail on sensitive days, and it's always been effective. While calamine seems to work particularly well for me, this product truly deserves the title of 'holy grail'. Rovectin frequently has sales, including Black Friday deals, so try it when it's 50% off. It's just amazing. I don't usually stock up on products, but I always keep one or two extras of this. It's absolutely top-tier.
ConsWhile there are no real downsides, it's worth noting that due to the calamine content which absorbs sebum well, using this alone in winter can leave your skin feeling tight. You'll definitely need to layer a richer cream on top or be thorough with your serum/ampoule step. Otherwise, it can really dry out your skin.
TipOn the flip side, it's absolutely fantastic in summer. It has a silky, powdery finish, so even if you've applied thick serums, this balm helps manage excess oil. It's great to use before sunscreen too, acting almost like a gentle primer that helps control oil in the T-zone. It's truly an MVP in my skincare routine.

While casually browsing during a sale, I saw the Cica Balm was discounted and added it to my cart. * I bought it without high expectations, but wow, its soothing effect is incredible! Is this what it feels like to have a product that calms your skin without any irritation? * The texture is super smooth, making it easy to apply a thin layer all over the face. * When a painful, large blemish is about to appear, applying a thick layer as a spot treatment works wonders for soothing! * I decided to buy it after hearing it pairs well with hydrating essences, and people were right! It's truly a golden combination. The Treatment Emulsion provides a burst of hydration, and the Cica Balm follows up with intense soothing - a perfect duo!
Cons* The amount is a bit small... Since I use it so frequently, it runs out quickly. It would be great if there was a larger size available. * It's a bit dry to use alone in winter. During colder months, you definitely need to use an essence or a light moisturizer with it.
Tip* Try applying a slightly thicker layer on blemish-prone areas and let it absorb... It works wonders...

It has a consistency similar to a regular cream. It absorbs quickly, and the finish doesn't feel sticky at all. I applied it when my skin was irritated and tingling, and I was impressed by how effectively it calmed my skin. That was definitely a plus. As for the scent, it has a herbal fragrance. Objectively, it's not particularly strong or overpowering, but since I'm used to fragrance-free or nearly fragrance-free products, I did notice the scent.
ConsWhen using it in winter, I sometimes felt that applying it just once wasn't enough to combat dryness.

It's great for applying after a face mask to reduce stickiness. While I didn't see dramatic improvements when using it consistently for a while on breakouts, it definitely had a soothing effect.
ConsIt can be a bit drying in winter. I didn't see results dramatic enough to say that all my blemishes disappeared. The effect was more like a gradual calming of the skin.
TipAfter doing a mask and letting it absorb a bit, applying this helps control any excess product. Generously applying it to problem areas gradually calmed my skin.

By morning, everything has calmed down. If I use it generously for a few days after popping a pimple, it seems to fade the marks better than just leaving them alone.
ConsWhile it was fine even if a bit dry in spring and summer, it's extremely drying in fall and winter. The Rovectin Skin Essentials is a must, followed by a sleeping mask.
TipMy usual evening routine goes: cica toner, cica balm, eye cream, moisturizer, and then sleeping pack. Works like a charm!

It didn't cause any blemishes, and my skin felt soothed!
ConsPerhaps because I have dry skin, even though it's a balm type, it felt a bit drying when used alone in winter.

So these days, whenever I feel like I might get a breakout, I generously apply this cream! Texture: It absorbs better than I expected and leaves a fresh finish, which I really like! Scent: I appreciated that the fragrance isn't artificially overwhelming, and it somehow suits blemish care perfectly!
ConsWhile I mentioned the texture as a positive point - it absorbs well and isn't sticky - it's not quite enough as a final moisturizer for winter! If you have dry skin and plan to use this in winter, you might need to follow up with another product for extra hydration!

ConsUsing this alone might not be enough to combat dryness during winter months
