I just use it straight from the tube. This mascara seems to create lightweight and clean-looking lashes, probably due to its ultra-light formula. Although the brush isn't super skinny, I was surprised to find that it doesn't deposit too much product - it's comparable to many slim mascara wands in terms of how little product comes out. This means you can apply a really thin layer. It's advertised as smudge-proof, which essentially means it's resistant to both water and oil. I haven't tested it against oil, but it's definitely water-resistant! Once it sets, it doesn't smudge even when rubbed. However, if you rub really hard, a tiny bit of product might clump together, but you wouldn't normally apply that much or rub that hard on your lashes, so it's practically smudge-proof in real use. Honestly, this is the lightest mascara I've ever tried! I used to think the Chica y Chico mascara was the lightest, but this feels even more weightless. It feels like you're not wearing anything, and it sets really quickly. If you curl your lashes and apply it well, it seems to lock everything in place effectively. However, I did experience some loss of curl in my case. It doesn't hold up super well against mask humidity. The curl-holding power is excellent, and it applies cleanly to each lash individually. It's almost on par with a skinny, precise mascara. Just lift from the roots, and you get clump-free definition. To be honest, there are hardly any downsides. However, if you prefer a more dramatic or intense look, this might not be for you.
