When you think of mascara, Maybelline comes to mind, but this feels like a significant downgrade from their classic yellow New York mascara. The sharp, gasoline-like scent is irritating (though it dissipates after application). Surprisingly, even without applying it to my lower lashes, I noticed subtle smudging about 4 hours after application, suggesting poor staying power. Oddly enough, despite the smudging, the curling effect isn't bad, which is puzzling.

The applicator seems better suited for Asian eyes compared to previous Maybelline products. It applies smoothly and offers above-average curling power.

I bought it because it was advertised as washable, but I'm disappointed that it doesn't come off easily.

The way it absorbs and its staying power are decent, making it a safe and easy choice for everyday use.

While the unique packaging is nice, it's not slim but rather chubby, which makes it a bit awkward to hold. Unfortunately, despite being marketed for curl and bounce, it doesn't hold a curl well on my monolids! It droops, even after using a heated eyelash curler. This could be due to mask humidity, but still... For monolids, a lash primer is absolutely necessary! I'd recommend this mascara only for those who don't have straight lashes.

To be honest, I can't think of any particular advantages... Maybe it's affordable when on sale?

After applying the mascara, I used a cotton swab to separate my lashes. The volume lasted all day long, from morning to night, without drooping!

- It creates a dramatic, Western-style lash look, which might be a bit much for those preferring a more natural makeup style.

- The curling effect is outstanding! Lashes stay curled from morning to night. They really nailed it with the name 'Curl Bounce'!
- I've been using it for a few days and haven't noticed any smudging. Of course, there's no flaking either. It's excellent value for money!

Apply it from the roots with a sweeping motion, then use tweezers to separate any clumped lashes at the tips for a beautiful look.

I tend to wink a lot, so the inner corner area sometimes smudges a bit.

The smudging is so bad it negates all the positives. The 2022 mascara smudges like crazy. It claims to be waterproof, but it smudges at the pool and in everyday life. How can it claim 24-hour wear? Some blogger reviews seem questionable. I always thought my pencil eyeliner was the problem when I had smudging, but today I went out wearing only this mascara, and after 2 hours, I looked like a complete panda. I even applied powder before going out, but it's a powdered panda look. The attached photo shows a before-and-after comparison from about 40 minutes of water play. It smudges quickly even without diving. As a last resort, I'll try to salvage it with a fixer, but if that doesn't work, I'll have to throw it away. I'd rather have a mascara that flakes a bit because it's easier to touch up! This one doesn't even come off easily when it smudges. You need to remove it with oil and reapply, which is very inconvenient. It's such a disappointment. I don't think I'll be using Colossal again in the future.

It fails to create sharp, defined lash tips. Also, it starts clumping after just about two weeks of use. I was only satisfied for the first two or three days.

The brush is quite thick, but it applies smoothly. It's more of a clean-looking mascara rather than one for volume. It doesn't smudge much.
