It clings to your lips and doesn't budge. I think it might be the best for locking in moisture. The lip mask is excessively sticky. It feels unpleasant when my hair or hands accidentally touch it. - db*******Combination SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedFeb 14, 2025
It's absolutely fantastic when applied at night. The moisturizing effect is so good that I make sure to apply it every single night before bed. I wouldn't recommend this for those who dislike a sticky feeling on their skin. - mi*********Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 1, 2025
I have a terrible habit of picking at my lips, but even though I can't break it, I can go to town on them, apply this before bed, and wake up with them fully restored. The next day, when I start picking again, it's like they're pre-moisturized, so they peel off in thin, soft layers. My lips don't end up completely destroyed like they used to, which is great. If I keep this up, even if I can't kick the habit entirely, it's like having lips that never get picked at. Only the parts that need to come off do, and the rest stays put. Now I've got lips that can survive even the winter! When you apply this, it's so thick that it feels a bit gross when it gets on your cup while drinking water. It also leaves a residue on your hands when applying, so it feels like you're not getting it all on your lips? There's some waste there. But when you see your lips the next morning, all is forgiven. That's how good the product effectiveness is. Apply a really generous amount before bed, seriously. - ry*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsJan 22, 2025
The product comes in a generous size! (I bought it because it's so well-known, but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations) I knew it would be sticky before buying, so the stickiness didn't bother me too much. However, personally, I feel like the product doesn't help dissolve dead skin cells, but rather just feels sticky. When I wipe it off with a wet wipe, it feels like it's peeling off the dead skin cells. This left my lips looking patchy, which was disappointing. It's also difficult to remove with water alone. - no********Dry SkinAtopic SkinInner DrynessDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 27, 2024
I switched from Vaseline because it wasn't moisturizing enough for winter. Tried a sample from Olive Young and was blown away by its incredible richness. I'm totally sold! I apply it every night and am amazed that it's still there in the morning. It's quite thick, but I actually like sticky lip balms, so that's fine with me. The main downside is that it doesn't come with a spatula. According to other reviews, it comes off cleanly if you use a lip and eye remover. - wl**********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedDec 10, 2024
I love it! When you apply it generously, not too thick but just enough to cover your face before bed, you'll wake up with absolutely no dead skin cells the next morning. It's a bit inconvenient to wash off the next morning. Using wet wipes is the easiest method, but it feels wasteful to use them daily. Rinsing with water doesn't feel right and doesn't clean it off completely. It's like trying to remove an oily residue. Does anyone have a good removal technique to suggest? - n6********Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessRecommendedNov 27, 2024
I've had extremely dry lips since childhood, with flaky skin that just wouldn't go away. I couldn't even use matte lipsticks due to the excessive dead skin cells. But since discovering this lip mask, I'm already on my third jar! There's only as much left as in the photo because I use it every single night. Unlike other lip masks that might leave some residue or dry out overnight, this product is different. I apply it generously with a cotton swab before bed, and in the morning, I just wipe it off with a wet wipe. The result? Smooth, flake-free lips! I use it regularly, but especially before days when I need to wear makeup. It's become an essential part of my routine that I can't live without! I'm used to it now and not particularly picky, but while it's great at removing dead skin cells, its sticky texture due to the product's nature might be polarizing for some users. It's best to apply this before bed rather than in the morning or during active hours. Just wipe it off with a wet wipe in the morning. If you forget to apply it at night or have a sudden need to do your makeup, I recommend applying it right after cleansing, before your skincare routine. Leave it on while you do your makeup, then wipe it off before applying your lip products. - en********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsNov 22, 2024
Usually when I use lip balm, it feels like it's just sitting on the surface rather than deeply moisturizing. So I was looking for something more hydrating and decided to try the Etude Lip Mask. It has a heavier feel than lip balm, which made me feel like it was moisturizing more deeply without just sitting on top. When I applied it before bed and wiped it off with a tissue in the morning, it effectively removed dead skin cells. I've used it over 10 times since purchasing it on the 11th, and it's definitely kept my lips from getting flaky. The best part is that even if I don't apply lip balm regularly during the day, my lips don't crack quickly thanks to using this lip mask at night. However, I'm not sure if it's just not suitable for me, but while I did see moisturizing and exfoliating effects, my lips started to feel a bit irritated with continued use. It's been about 10 days since I bought it on the 11th, and my lip condition isn't great. Many people mentioned getting bumps on their lips, and while mine aren't quite that noticeable, I did develop some small yellow spots. Since this is the only recent change in my routine, I'm planning to take a break from using it. I'll monitor the situation and then decide whether to continue using it or not. - ch**********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 14, 2024
When I apply this product before bed, I wake up the next morning with visibly flaky dead skin cells, making it top-tier for exfoliation. That's why I use it the night before important days when I'm getting my makeup done, or a week in advance when my lips need some serious TLC. Also, in the dead of winter when my lips are chapped, applying a thin layer every night for just 3 days completely heals them! I think it's gone beyond being a word-of-mouth favorite to become a national lip mask sensation. The Hwahae Testers would approve! However, it does tend to stick to hair, so it's a bit inconvenient having to tie your hair back or avoid moving your head too much while sleeping. The fact that it's extremely sticky, causing hair to stick to it while sleeping? - sa****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessRednessRecommendedNov 13, 2024
This stuff is so sticky it puts glue to shame - we're talking heavy-duty, ultra-tacky texture that's beyond just 'sticky'. It coats dead skin cells and feels like it's creating an impenetrable barrier against air and oxygen. The hydration is undeniable, but if you can't stand that sealed-in feeling, steer clear. However, for those battling extreme dryness and flakiness, you won't find anything better. Apply it at night, and it won't budge or disappear by morning. Water alone won't remove it - gently wipe with a cleansing wipe and you'll see dead skin cells start to roll off. Follow up with your regular cleanse, and most of it should be gone. Your skin will feel plump and smooth, like a baby's bottom. No need to slather it on thick. Avoid using your hands as it's unhygienic and hard to remove. Instead, use a spatula to scrape a thin layer and apply it to your lips like you're plastering a wall. It's so thick, it's not easy to spread. When sleeping, try not to toss and turn, and tie your hair back to avoid a sticky mess.
