I used to not apply anything before bed, but after using retinol, they say it's good to provide sufficient moisture. So I'm using a lotion, moisturizer, and pore serum, and then mixing a bit of retinol into the moisturizer or pore serum to use only on the problem areas!
If you apply a generous amount of moisturizer before and after using retinol, you should be able to use it without any side effects!
