I used up a whole bottle of Amo* product I got as a gift from the salon, and then immediately switched to this one, so I could make a direct comparison. Pro 1: Great curl retention for the price Even though it's been over 4 months since I got the perm, my curls still look pretty good. Pro 2: Pleasant scent It has a slightly sweet and tangy fragrance that's not overpowering. Pro 3: Not sticky on hands Unlike my previous product that left residue on my hands and required washing after styling, this one doesn't leave much behind. Pro 4: Doesn't make hair stiff As long as you don't overdo it, this product won't make your hair stiff or clumpy when applied properly. Pro 5: Hair protection It offers protection against high heat, which is fantastic.
ConsDrawback 1: Curls tend to droop slightly Compared to my previous product, the curls seem to fall a bit more. This might be because my old product was a professional-grade one that kept the volume and curls lifted impressively. Drawback 2: Not exceptionally cheap While it's a good value, it's not dramatically cheaper than the product I was using before. However, this product is still great in its own right.
TipPro tip: After washing my hair and towel-drying, I squeeze out a soybean-sized amount of product and apply it mainly to my hair using my whole palm. Then I blow-dry. After drying, I squeeze out about 1.5 times that amount, rub it between my palms, and scrunch my curls to set them. This method ensures bouncy curls without any stiffness. It's a technique my hairstylist of 25 years taught me. Both are Amore Pacific products, so I trust them. However, I think I'll go back to the A*us product next time.
