Around the time my period ends, my skin tends to get extremely irritated, and I invariably end up with a lot of minor folliculitis this time as well. I heard that retinol can be irritating to the skin, so I started applying an ointment and managing it until it got better, then began using it. The ads make it seem like this is an all-purpose product that strengthens the skin barrier, reduces pores, and brightens the skin, so I started using it with high expectations. There was a new uneven texture or something under my eyes that had become quite prominent, but it disappeared after using the serum. (The pre-existing uneven texture didn't completely go away, though.) At first, it had good spreadability and as soon as I applied it, my pores shrank and my skin felt bouncy, which I liked.

Other retinols caused too much peeling after use, so I persevered and used them for about half a year before giving up. But Vitaniol doesn't cause any peeling at all, which is great. I was also worried it might sting or turn red since it's a vitamin derivative, but that hasn't been an issue. The pores seem to have become shallower and more elastic, making them appear smaller, rather than disappearing completely. And compared to other retinols, it seems less drying.
