I'm a big fan of lotus and hydrangea scents, so I was eager to try Elborario's hydrangea perfume. I decided to try a perfume by Kenzo that featured lotus as the main note. One thing I'm certain about from my impressions is that this perfume is not centered around lotus. The predominant notes are powdery and musky, and the lotus is not the star player. It only makes a brief appearance at the beginning, and the dry down is barely perceptible. It's a stuffy scent that wouldn't suit summer. However, thanks to this perfume, I now know what mimosa smells like, and I quite like it. So I'm inclined to rate it generously. The price is also reasonable considering the volume, and the longevity is good. I tend to prefer a more aquatic, shimmering lotus note, but the lotus in this fragrance feels a bit more refined, like something you'd find in a skincare product. It reminds me of the serene lotus pond in a quiet park, rather than the crisp, warm air of a traditional Japanese living room overlooking lotus blossoms.
Cons
As mentioned above, if you dislike powdery, musky scents, you may want to skip this one.
