Hair: My scalp is oily with excess sebum, and my hair is extremely damaged from coloring and perming. I used the product from The Hwahae Testers daily for two weeks after receiving it. - It's great that I can gently shampoo with soft foam without abrasive particles, as I know scalp exfoliation is important for preventing hair loss! - The refreshing sensation is perfect for those with oily scalps. - Though it looks like a small amount, it seems it will last longer than expected. - There's definitely a feeling of a cleaner scalp after use. - Being a protein shampoo, it seems to add some volume to the roots after use. However, it doesn't look obviously styled like after blow-drying.
Cons- It's inconvenient that it's not a pump bottle. When I try to get more product, foam gets all over the bottle. - It doesn't lather much. When I try to add water to create more foam, it seems to disappear instead, making it time-consuming to lather up. This means I avoid using it in the morning rush. - Personal preference, but the scent isn't the fresh grapefruit I expected. It's more like grapefruit mixed with a medicinal smell, reminiscent of cough syrup or ibuprofen syrup with a grapefruit twist. - While it gives a cooling sensation on the scalp and has a warming effect like a pain relief patch when wet, it can sting if it gets in your eyes or on your face. Use with caution. - The shampoo seems more focused on the scalp than the hair, leaving damaged hair feeling very dry.

After washing, my hair doesn't lie flat but feels fuller with more volume at the roots. Even after having my hair tied up all day and letting it down after work, there's still some volume left - not embarrassingly so though. Compared to my previous shampoos (mix of oily and normal types), less hair falls out. My hair also gets less greasy by evening compared to before. While the foam isn't very dense and breaks down quickly, making me wonder about its cleansing power, the reduced oiliness shows it cleans well. It has safe ingredients too. The formula and cleansing power are good, and while not dramatic, it does make my hair fuller. I was skeptical at first, thinking it might just have a fancy name, but after 5 uses, I'm liking it more each time. If you have an oily scalp and hair that tends to lie flat, I'd recommend giving this a try.
ConsAfter first use, my crown area felt dry and itchy (similar to my previous oily scalp shampoo when used in the evening, causing itchiness the next day, but to a lesser degree). From the second use onwards, it was fine. However, due to its cleansing power, daily use might dry out the scalp. The product comes out quickly as it's a runny type, so be careful. As for the scent, it mostly disappears after drying your hair.
TipFor better cleansing effects, massage the scalp rather than just the hair. Alternating daily between this and your usual oily scalp shampoo can help reduce dryness on the crown.

By the second day, my hair looks well-groomed. On the third day, it's slightly oily? My scalp is a bit sensitive, and if I use an unsuitable shampoo, I get blemishes or scabs. I guess my scalp is becoming drier with age. The Hwahae Testers found that it has excellent cleansing effectiveness. My scalp felt clean, and the slightly yellowish tinge turned white. When I touched my hair, it had a squeaky-clean feeling. The dandruff that had started to appear due to my dry scalp completely disappeared. The volume at the roots stays intact. I'm someone who hates flat hair so much that I don't even use conditioner. With just this shampoo, my scalp doesn't deflate and stays lively. Good~ I once tried the no-poo method but gave up after about 6 months. I realized that going completely no-poo is difficult, so I started using shampoo again, but I found myself using it less frequently. I think this product could be very helpful for maintaining an eco-friendly lifestyle because the second ingredient after purified water is loofah fruit ferment filtrate. The closer to the top of the list, the higher the concentration of an ingredient, and naturally extracted ingredients are best, right? So, this seems perfect for those who want to avoid surfactants or maintain an eco-friendly routine. It helps with hair loss. I don't think shampoo alone can prevent hair loss - diet and age play a role too. But with some shampoos, I lose a handful of hair as soon as I lather up. However, with hair loss prevention shampoos, I notice less shedding. From this perspective, when I used this product, I only lost the amount of hair that naturally falls out daily. I believe it helps prevent hair loss.
ConsFor those who prioritize fragrance... it might be a bit disappointing. To me, it smells faintly like a popsicle. But you know that shampoo scents usually disappear during the drying process, right? Since it's not an artificial fragrance, you might notice a slight hair odor the next day. Not recommended for teenagers going through puberty. If your hair is damaged from perms, you might experience some tangling with this shampoo. Also, it's really hard to work up a lather with your hands. Even when your hair is thoroughly wet, it doesn't produce rich foam. (Some people use a foaming net to create more lather. You'll need to figure out what works best for you.) It's watery, making it difficult to create foam by rubbing it in your hands, so you need to apply it directly to your hair. I experienced some scalp itching. I'm not sure if it's because of the strong cleansing power or if my scalp is becoming drier. But when I turned up the humidifier in my room, the itching disappeared, so it might be due to dryness. This could vary from person to person.

Compared to my previous shampoo, I feel like my hair looks better even when I just use this shampoo alone! 2. Since I have dry hair, I don't wash it daily but every other day. Unlike my old shampoo, after rinsing and wrapping my wet hair in a towel, it feels more refreshed? (Just my personal opinion!) 3. If you're a Hwahae user like me who doesn't wash their hair every day, I recommend this sulfur shampoo for a thorough cleanse each time you wash!
Cons1. It's not a pump bottle, so you have to squeeze it directly into your hand. Given its runny consistency, it can be a bit tricky to control the amount. 2. It doesn't lather up too much! But I don't really care about lather, so it wasn't a big deal for me. 3. The scent is kind of fresh, like lemon or orange? But it doesn't last long and gets masked by any conditioner or treatment you use afterwards (Though the shampoo scent isn't amazing, so that might actually be a good thing!)
TipIt's tricky to control the amount, so be careful when you first use it! If you're looking to directly care for your hair and scalp rather than focusing on fragrance or other extras, I'd recommend this!

Here's what I loved about this one: - Scent: I was surprised by its tangy smell at first, but after rinsing, it left a refreshingly zesty aroma that really lifted my mood. - Unlike other oily hair shampoos, this one didn't feel harsh or stripping when lathering. - Even without using conditioner, my hair felt noticeably softer compared to other shampoos. - I went two days without washing, and my hair felt less greasy than usual. Plus, no dandruff in sight! - Definitely considering repurchasing this one.
ConsA few downsides I noticed: - It's quite runny, so be careful when closing the cap - it can easily spill if you've squeezed some out. - The flip-top lid isn't as convenient as a pump dispenser would be. - While it lathers well, the foam disappears quickly when applied. This meant I ended up using more product than with other shampoos. - The fresh scent, while nice, doesn't linger for very long, which was a bit disappointing.

Hair grew with more strength and volume, and the ends became less brittle. There was a noticeable reduction in dead skin cells on the scalp, and the shampoo lathered well. Scalp and Hair Improvement: It effectively enhanced root volume and resulted in shinier hair! As someone with dry skin who always struggled with white flakes on the scalp and brittle hair during seasonal changes and dry winters, I've tried various solutions. Other brands' scalp shampoos and oil massages helped a bit, but flakes persisted. I was skeptical about sulfur's effectiveness, but after using this shampoo, the flakes completely disappeared! My scalp seems healthier, with hair growing more voluminously instead of lying flat. Even without applying essence, the hair ends feel stronger and look shinier. There's a cooling sensation, possibly due to the scaling effect. Sulfur really lives up to its reputation! Highly recommended for those dealing with scalp flakes and lifeless hair. Lather: It lathers well, noticeably more than other anti-dandruff shampoos from different brands. Unlike other scalp and anti-dandruff shampoos that were difficult to use due to poor lathering, this one creates a rich lather, making hair washing easier. While some reviews mention poor lathering, as someone who's tried various dandruff shampoos, I found it produces much more foam than others. I didn't feel it lathered less than regular shampoos; it was sufficient. Ingredients: Excellent. The product claims to use only good ingredients, and I used it without experiencing any blemishes or discomfort. Texture: Fluid consistency The texture is fluid, not clumpy, and I had no issues when applying it to my hands.
ConsFragrance: I was concerned about the smell due to the sulfur content, but this shampoo doesn't have that typical sulfuric odor. However, it seems they've added a rather strong fragrance to mask it. The scent is like a mix of honey grapefruit black tea and menthol, or perhaps medicinal? In any case, the fragrance isn't particularly pleasant and feels quite strong. Nevertheless, it's better than a sulfuric smell and doesn't seem to linger in the hair, so it was acceptable. While I'm satisfied with the scalp improvement effects enough to overlook the scent, I wouldn't recommend it to those who can't tolerate strong fragrances.
TipThe instructions suggest leaving the shampoo on for about 2 minutes after lathering before rinsing. Following this method seems to enhance the refreshing feeling and effectiveness.

As someone sensitive to artificial scents, I found this product wasn't overpowering. The scent mostly dissipates after drying, though it becomes slightly more noticeable after the second use. The product contains 3000 times more sulfur than a sulfur hot spring. At first, it gave me a slight hot spring vibe, which I personally enjoy. (I stopped noticing the sulfur scent after the second use, possibly due to getting used to it.) Hair texture: After the fourth use, my hair noticeably gained shine and appeared stronger. Texture and feel: It has a clear orange, watery gel-like consistency similar to body wash. I was satisfied with its cleansing power. Unlike other shampoos that can leave my scalp feeling dry, this one didn't, which I appreciated. I've come to realize the importance of scalp health, and this product delivered in that aspect. Moreover, as someone sensitive to strong fragrances in hair products, I found this one pleasantly subtle both during and after use, making it highly satisfactory.
ConsIt produces less lather than regular shampoos, and the foam doesn't last as long. However, I found that this doesn't significantly affect its cleansing effectiveness. (Similar to how foam cleansers don't necessarily clean better with more bubbles.) Due to these characteristics, I tended to use slightly more product than usual. Usage amount: I used about 12 milliliters per wash (for shoulder-length hair).
TipTo maximize the benefits of this sulfur shampoo for your scalp, apply it to your scalp and massage thoroughly (the instructions recommend massaging for about a minute) to help the sulfur penetrate effectively. If your hair feels very dry and brittle, apply a hair essence oil or body emulsion to the ends after shampooing. Applying these products while your hair is still slightly damp helps with quicker and more even absorption.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsTexture: Unlike other nourishing shampoos that often feel sticky or heavy, this one has a watery consistency. Scent: Although it's described as having a grape fragrance, it actually has a refreshing citrusy scent, reminiscent of oranges. It's a sweet and zesty aroma. Application: The watery texture makes it easier to lather up in your hands. As it's a scalp shampoo, the menthol ingredient gives a cooling sensation on the scalp. After use: Many scalp shampoos can leave hair feeling stiff after rinsing, but this product doesn't have that effect. Hair remains soft and manageable.
ConsPackaging: The container doesn't have a pump, which makes dispensing the product a bit inconvenient. Caution: Due to its watery consistency, it's easy to dispense too much at once. You'll need to be careful with portion control to avoid waste. Scent longevity: This isn't a perfume shampoo focused on fragrance, so the scent isn't particularly strong or long-lasting. It's a product that focuses on the basics.
TipHelpful shampooing technique: As it doesn't lather much, I found a two-step process works well. First, use about a third of your usual amount for a quick overall wash, rinse, then use more to cleanse the scalp thoroughly. This creates a richer lather and better cleansing. Leaving the lather on for about 3 minutes while brushing your teeth allows the beneficial ingredients to absorb into the scalp. Recommended for: This shampoo is perfect for those with oily scalps and dehydrated hair who want scalp cleansing, anti-hair loss ingredients, and hair nourishment. It effectively controls oil production - even when I wash in the morning, my scalp is less oily by evening. It also keeps hair soft without making it stiff, reducing the need for conditioner. Repurchase intention: Absolutely! After using it for a week, I've seen great results. It's ideal for when you need a deep scalp cleanse, especially in summer. The Hwahae Testers' verdict: This product works hard to provide both scalp care and hair nourishment. It's particularly suited for combination dehydrated skin types looking for an effective cleansing shampoo that doesn't strip the hair. The cooling sensation and light, refreshing scent make it a great choice for warmer months when you need that extra cleansing boost.

Cleansing effectiveness: It's great! I have an oily scalp that usually gets greasy after about 20 hours, but even after 24 hours of using this, my hair doesn't look too greasy. On particularly oily days, I usually do a pre-wash, but I intentionally tried this on a very oily scalp, and it still felt like it thoroughly removed all the scalp buildup! Lather: Many shampoos marketed for scalp health and hair loss prevention that I've used before didn't lather well. But this one creates an amazing lather! I used a bit more than a 500 won coin size, and it lathered up nicely in my hands and maintained the foam well during my scalp massage. Ingredients: As I mentioned earlier, shampoos marketed for scalp and hair loss prevention often leave hair feeling stiff. But this one doesn't seem to do that. While I can't say my extremely damaged hair has improved yet (as I haven't used it for long), I can confidently say this shampoo hasn't made my hair condition worse.
ConsScent: The reason I'm putting the scent in the 'cons' section is because it mainly smells like grapefruit, but more like an air freshener grapefruit scent. At first, I thought 'Oh, nice!', but it started to give me a bit of a headache. I can't really tell how long the scent lasts on my hair. While it's good that it doesn't have a harsh smell despite containing sulfur, I think the scent might be quite polarizing. Packaging: Unfortunately, it's not a pump bottle. The shampoo is already quite runny, so having to turn the bottle upside down to get the product out is a bit inconvenient. I'm a little disappointed it doesn't have a pump dispenser.
