Excellent coverage I have less-than-perfect skin, so I prefer products with high coverage. That's why I've repurchased this N times. Even in the photo, where my skin was rough and not at its best after heavy drinking the night before, it still managed to look decent. I usually go for matte foundations with good coverage (I used to be a die-hard foundation fan), but this is the only product I can use comfortably without foundation. Flawless skin finish This goes hand in hand with the coverage. Usually, high coverage can make skin look cakey, but this gives a clean finish. I recently bought the latest version after the renewal, and I've heard the new formula gives an even better skin finish. Long-lasting I didn't notice any darkening or significant breakdown. Since last year's relaunch, it's become my reliable summer cushion. Alternating with Hera's Silky Stay Foundation, I find that even a light layer of this cushion in summer provides beautiful skin expression and, most importantly, a natural color that enhances skin texture. I'm once again satisfied with the results. Application methods may vary, but as someone who invests in thorough skincare, I prefer gently patting it on. This prevents disturbing my skincare layers underneath. While spreading it doesn't disrupt my skincare either, I find that patting helps with pore coverage and gives a beautifully airbrushed effect. Although I generally prefer traditional foundations for their finish, this reformulated Black Cushion is perfect for touch-ups and has become my go-to summer cushion, even on days when I start with liquid foundation. Since I prefer a sheer application and mainly use it in summer, I'll need to be diligent about frequent application to use up the entire product before the season ends! For a natural makeup look with this high-coverage product, I recommend starting with the cheeks, then adjusting the amount as needed before applying to the mouth area, forehead, and chin. I was hesitant to use just any foundation, so I've been trying cushions from various brands to find the perfect one. At first, I thought I'd settle on the Espoir cushion, but the way it sat on my skin bothered me. So, despite the higher price tag, I decided to try the Hera cushion that everyone raves about! Even with a discount, it still costs over 60,000 won, which is quite steep. But the all-black cushion compact looks sleek and stylish, and it provides excellent coverage. I'm really impressed! However, I've found that the most crucial factor is how you prep your skin and set your makeup. I start by gently wiping my face with toner-soaked cotton pads, following my skin's texture. Then I apply a bit of serum for hydration, followed by just enough moisturizer. I use a sponge to pat the areas around my eyes and eyebrows where I don't want excess oil (this removes any excess cream). Next, I apply sunscreen and again pat my eyes and eyebrows with a sponge. I spritz on a makeup fixer all over my face and let it dry. Then I apply the cushion foundation in gentle patting motions for even coverage, followed by another layer of fixer. After this routine, I find my complexion stays flawless for much longer. I have combination skin, so my T-zone tends to get oily after a while, but a quick pat of solid no-sebum powder leaves my skin perfectly matte. The finish is somewhat matte, which can feel a bit dry in winter. In summer, it might separate slightly if you sweat a lot. I wish they'd release a summer version! Still, in terms of coverage, this is hands down the best cushion I've tried. * Pro tip: With Hera cushions, I recommend buying one shade lighter than you think you need! The price is really the only downside... I wonder if it's expensive because of all the great ingredients that provide such good coverage, or if we're paying for the brand name along with the excellent coverage. Either way, aside from the cost, it's a fantastic cushion!
