It leaves the skin comfortably moisturized right after application.
ConsPersonally, I find that citric acid needs to be lower on the ingredient list, preferably 14th or 15th, to avoid irritation. However, Avène seems to use a higher concentration. Whether it's the Tolérance or Cicalfate line, I experience a warming sensation after about 15 minutes. As someone with sensitive skin who's tried most derma lines, Avène products consistently cause my skin to feel hot from within and develop redness. I had hoped this might work despite Cicalfate cream not suiting me, but unfortunately, it's still irritating. Disappointing.
TipAbsorption: Good Hydration: Good Blemishes: Moderate (redness, warming sensation) Stickiness: Mild

However, after using this product, my skin felt comfortable, and when I looked in the mirror, I noticed it absorbed without any dryness, leaving a subtle Inner Glow. I'm in my 30s, and after just one day of use, the fine lines that were starting to form disappeared. When I apply this product every night followed by a regenerating serum before bed, my skin feels firmer and has a beautiful glow the next day.
ConsThere's not much to dislike. The fragrance-free formula is even better. The texture is great too - not too watery.
TipFor those with very dry skin, I recommend skipping the toner and applying a hydrating moisturizer after this product for better results. It doesn't cause pilling, so it's great to apply both morning and night. Also, it's a good idea to purchase this when it's on sale through social commerce sites.

It absorbs well, doesn't irritate, and feels deeply hydrating. Knowing it's made with Avène thermal spring water gives me extra confidence. Unlike their Cicalfate cream, which separates in winter and can be tricky to use in cold weather, this serum absorbs beautifully without feeling heavy on the skin. The texture is perfect - it's slightly milky in color, not too thin, and barely sticky. It's great for daily use, both day and night.
ConsI can't really think of any major downsides. The only thing might be that it's not exactly budget-friendly.
TipI mainly use this when I go swimming. No matter how cold the water is, you have to thoroughly cleanse before and after entering the pool. With your face constantly submerged, you tend to feel that deep dryness regardless of the season. On days when I exercise a lot, my face gets flushed, and even after being in cold water and washing with cool water, the heat-induced redness makes my skin feel even drier (just like when you use a fan or hair dryer, it further dehydrates your skin). I highly recommend this to swimmers! Even if you don't exercise, for those who often experience facial heat, instead of layering multiple products, try simplifying your skincare routine with just one or two quality items like this. You know how layering too many products can make your skin feel suffocated, right?
