As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I prefer a matte finish, and this sunscreen delivers just that when applied under my base makeup. It controls oil well and really prevents darkening! I also liked how it brightens my complexion by one shade. While it's great at controlling oil and preventing darkening, it unfortunately emphasizes dead skin cells terribly. Can you see the white flakes in the photo? I used my regular base that never causes issues, but with this sunscreen underneath, it really highlights flakiness. I tried the Sunmuse Tone-Up Correcting Sunscreen in purple before, and it seems B-plane sunscreens just don't work for me. The B-plane Tone-Up Sunscreen is excellent at preventing darkening, but it's the worst for skin texture. Whether I apply it with my hands or a sponge, it always makes dead skin cells visible and seems to pill like powder. I'm going back to Uriage... I don't think dry skin types could use this at all, I'd only recommend it for those with oily skin. Applying it with your hands seems to reduce flaking somewhat... - ss********Combination SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 8, 2025
It corrects your complexion before makeup, eliminating any darkening that might occur after application. I really loved that aspect. The matte formula seems perfect for those with oily or combination skin. It's so easy to apply, just glide it on with your fingers! For those with dry skin, it might be too matte and could potentially cause flaking. Apart from that, everything else was fine. Make sure to apply it after properly prepping your skin! - j2*******Combination SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDec 28, 2024
I was skeptical about the purple tint at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it evens skin tone. Plus, its matte finish would be great for those with oily skin. When I first applied my usual amount, it was a disaster. The white cast is extremely noticeable. I'm not exaggerating when I say I looked like I'd dusted myself with flour! The next time, I used half as much and it was a bit better. However, as someone with combination dehydrated skin, I still felt a bit of dryness. - ko****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinWrinkles/ElasticityDec 4, 2024
I've been using Sun Muse and love it, but it's too transparent. So I was looking for something with more coverage and bought this after seeing great reviews. After using it, I started getting tiny bumps that spread all over my face. It seems to be folliculitis, and I've spent a lot on medication because of this product. I'm so disappointed that the company didn't even respond to my inquiry. There were hundreds of reviews for this product before, but it looks like they've deleted and re-uploaded them, possibly due to negative feedback. Hwahae's strength is its honest reviews. Please don't delete them. Everyone's skin reacts differently, so it's important to see all types of feedback. - cy****Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesRednessRecommendedAug 24, 2024
Natural skin appearance + brightening moisturizer effect After applying your skincare, gently pat it in with a puff and... it's absolutely amazing...! Don't apply with your fingers - use a puff for better absorption!! It looks like your natural skin but noticeably evens skin tone. As time passes, it feels even more natural. I have a yellowish skin base with severe redness, and this definitely corrected my complexion! It's really great, but the critical downside is that it washes off quickly with sweat or water... So it probably can't replace makeup in summer. However, it's moisturizing, so it should work well in winter. For those with oily skin, using it in summer might lead to excess oil production. If you're worried about oiliness, setting it with powder works much better! - em*************Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 28, 2024
Recommended skin types: Oily, Combination dehydrated, Combination Review after use: Pros: I usually prefer matte products for their lasting power in tone-up sunscreens. However, despite buying matte products, I always experienced darkening, and they didn't noticeably brighten my skin, which was disappointing. This product, though, visibly brightens while perfectly correcting yellow undertones. Even after 12+ hours on my oily skin, there was absolutely no darkening, which I'm extremely satisfied with. Highly recommended for those concerned about darkening - it's truly amazing with zero darkening. Also, you need to apply a bit more than usual for effective correction. Using the same amount as regular sunscreen provides both good correction and sun protection, which is great. Lastly, I have acne-prone skin, but this didn't cause any breakouts. Despite having sensitive skin, the ingredients are excellent. Cons: The formula seems to be quite dependent on the application method. When applied with hands, it tends to pill and flake off, making it difficult for the sunscreen to adhere properly. Using a puff definitely reduces pilling and lifting. Once it flakes off in an area, reapplying doesn't build up but instead pills like dead skin. When applying, you need to carefully pat it on with a puff to prevent flaking. If you try to push it into pores around the nose, the color won't adhere to that area anymore. Moreover, areas where it has flaked off won't have tone correction, making them stand out more. If you're careful about this point, it's usable. Tip: Gently pat on with a puff! - dj*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedJul 14, 2024
This brightening moisturizer has slightly better color payoff and a more matte finish than the Bora Unique Tone-Up Sunscreen. Unlike Dr.G or other purple sunscreens that can cause some darkening, this product barely darkens the skin at all. It's impressive! You know the original B-plane tone-up sunscreen, right? That one's great for winter, but this matte version contains silica to help control sebum. Once it's applied and set, it leaves your skin feeling powder-soft (and it's somewhat resistant to heat and sweat). It's perfect for spring, summer, and fall! While those with cool, fair skin can use just about anything, this product really helps neutralize yellow undertones if you have a slightly warm complexion. Plus, since it doesn't contain zinc oxide, it absorbs incredibly well (you can smooth it on gently like an emulsion). The downside is that without zinc oxide, it's relatively less resistant to sweat and heat compared to products containing it. But for that level of outdoor activity... you might be better off bringing an extra sunscreen anyway. This is the champion among purple sunscreens. When applied on its own, it really helps prevent darkening (those with oily skin will especially notice this). You can count on staying fair all day long. However, since some darkening is inevitable, it's best to use it with powder.
