I've always struggled with mineral sunscreens, finding them too heavy, so I've preferred chemical ones. However, they've been causing eye irritation lately. This product, though, is a pleasant surprise. Its texture, somewhere between an emulsion and a cream, offers exceptional hydration and feels comfortable on the skin. The moisturizing effect seems to last all day, which is impressive. While there's not much to complain about, the fragrance is a bit off-putting. It's reminiscent of old-fashioned floral scents, which might not appeal to everyone. The packaging is also a bit impractical - the bottle shape makes it hard to stand upright and use up every last drop. Having to tap the bottle to get the product out each time is a bit inconvenient. A tube format would have been more user-friendly. - ge********Normal SkinRecommendedApr 22, 2025
It absorbs well without feeling sticky. There's also minimal white cast. I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the sun serum itself. Other than that, I was satisfied. - tp******Dry SkinSensitive SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 14, 2025
The product packaging is pretty and the container design is adorable. Being a serum, it has a moisturizing texture without any stiffness and leaves no white cast. Its hydrating application and finish make it great to use before makeup. Foundation or cushion adheres well to it. It's really perfect for those who, like me, use sunblock products regularly even when not going out. There's no residue or heavy feeling, and since it's an easy-wash product, cleansing isn't burdensome, so it doesn't stress the skin. Personally, I think the fragrance is unnecessary, though it's not overly bothersome. While the container looks pretty, I think it might become inconvenient to use once the product level drops after some use. - yh********Normal SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDead Skin CellsRecommendedApr 11, 2025
The biggest advantage is that there's no white cast or pilling..! As someone who always applies sunscreen even when not wearing makeup, I've tried many sunscreens, but there was always something lacking. This sun serum, however, had no real drawbacks..! The scent is a very subtle floral fragrance, so it wasn't bothersome at all. It also doesn't pill when applying makeup, so I could apply it without worry and put on makeup right away, which was great. If you're someone who dislikes a glowy finish, you might not be too fond of this product..! - wi***Combination SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessRecommendedApr 8, 2025
What I loved most was the texture. It's not thick or heavy, but more like a moisturizing serum. It spreads smoothly and absorbs quickly into the skin, making you wonder, 'Am I really applying sunscreen?' The application is just fantastic. It absorbs naturally without any suffocating or sticky feeling, so I could use it comfortably even on days when my skin was super sensitive or irritated. No white cast + No pilling = Perfect makeup base Not only is there no white cast, but it also pairs beautifully with foundation or BB cream. It creates a smooth base for makeup without any pilling, making it excellent to use before applying cosmetics. It even refines skin texture so well that you might not need a separate primer. On busy days, just this sun serum alone created a beautiful base. While it's hydrating, the finish isn't overly shiny or sticky. Instead, it leaves a natural, fresh glow with a semi-matte finish. For my combination skin, it provided just the right balance of hydration and matteness, maintaining its effect all day without any patchiness. The aesthetics of Ohana Escape products are truly famous, right? This product is no exception - the packaging is so pretty that it lifts my mood every time I use it. The scent is also perfect for a mood boost, with a subtle dessert fragrance. It's not overpowering, so even those with sensitive skin can use it without worry. Even I, who am sensitive to fragrances, found it pleasant, which shows how much thought went into it. While it feels really moisturizing and fresh when first applied, over time there's a slight increase in oiliness. Especially for combination or oily skin types that tend to get shiny in the T-zone, the finish might feel a bit greasy. The glow it gives to the skin is pretty, but it can be a bit much in summer or on days when you're wearing a mask frequently. Those who need oil control might want to follow up with some powder. Personally, I found the scent pleasant and not overwhelming, but for those with extremely sensitive skin or fragrance sensitivities, even this subtle 'dessert scent' might be noticeable. While the fragrance itself isn't irritating, it might not be ideal for those who strictly prefer completely unscented sun care products. Maybe it's because of the high expectations set by the name 'sun serum'? While applying, I definitely felt the 'serum-like moisturizing effect', but the formula didn't seem to offer much in terms of skin improvement or soothing properties. It's good for basic sun protection and hydration, but I didn't notice significant effects for blemish care or long-term skincare benefits. It was slightly disappointing that despite emphasizing its serum properties, it didn't really go beyond being a moisturizing sunscreen. Considering the price for the 30-50ml size range, while the design and packaging quality are high, the content itself doesn't offer the best value for money. It gets used up quite quickly if you apply it generously every day, and the price point does make you hesitate about repurchasing. While understandable if you factor in the brand value and aesthetics, it might be a bit disappointing for more practical consumers. Because this product has such a light texture and absorbs quickly, it's better to apply two thin layers rather than one thick layer for more reliable sun protection. This also helps keep your skin more hydrated. If you have dehydrated oily skin, you can skip cream and use this directly. The Desert Sun Serum itself is quite hydrating, so it's enough to use after a light toner and essence. Especially in summer when skin tends to get oily, using just this sun serum without moisturizer keeps your skin nicely balanced. Thanks to its smooth, thin finish, it works great as a primer substitute, helping your base makeup apply smoothly and stay put without patchiness. It adheres well without pilling, making it perfect to use before foundation or cushion compacts. Don't forget to apply it to your neck, behind your ears, and collarbone area - we often forget these spots! The Desert Sun Serum doesn't leave any stickiness or white cast, so it's comfortable to use on the body too. Its subtle scent makes it nice for a mood boost before going out. Applying a bit to your collarbone area can even add a pretty highlight! Decant some into a small portable container for touch-ups. Unlike thick mineral sunscreens, it doesn't apply heavily, so you can pat it over your makeup after a light oil blot in the afternoon without any issues. Its thin formula makes it quite useful as a touch-up sun care product. - da*******Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedNov 12, 2024
This sunscreen has a serum-like texture, making it lightweight with excellent absorption and no white cast. The price is a bit on the higher side. Other than that, there aren't any major drawbacks. - li**********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedSep 13, 2024
It leaves my skin feeling moisturized and absorbs smoothly, which I really like The design makes it awkward to store upside down, so when it's half empty, the product gushes out when I squeeze it
