As someone with a darker complexion around shade 23, I find that blue-lavender brightening moisturizers like Serenity make my skin look brighter but unhealthy - giving me a grayish, dull appearance. That's why I prefer pink-toned brightening products. While they don't dramatically whiten my skin, they're excellent at neutralizing yellow undertones and improving my overall complexion. This product isn't like Bona Medusa's pore-minimizing primer or Yeon Jak's base prep. It's purely for evening out skin tone! It works perfectly when mixed with a darker, yellow-based foundation. I also love using it for neck brightening. Highly recommended for darker skin tones! It doesn't leave a cakey finish and works wonders. In summer, the formula can separate a bit, but mixing it well before use solves the problem. Mix it with your foundation or use it on your neck for a brightening effect! - go********Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessRecommendedMay 13, 2025
I was torn between getting Serenity or Rose Quartz, but I went for Rose Quartz and I've already finished a whole bottle! I use it before foundation, and sometimes when I want a sheer foundation look, I mix it in - it's gorgeous! 1. When used before foundation: After skincare, applying this definitely makes the base much more radiant. It's a pink base, so instead of making you extremely pale, it gives a lively, bright look. 2. Mixing with foundation: When mixed with foundation, it creates a thin, relatively transparent, and beautiful application! The adherence is great too. VDL bases are always reliable, so I tried this one and I think I'll keep using it in the future! To be honest, I can't think of any downsides yet! Try mixing it with your foundation! - d5********Dry SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedMay 1, 2025
It applies smoothly even with just a quick application by hand, and it brightens the complexion nicely. The finish feels pleasantly matte, which is great. If you don't cleanse thoroughly after use, you can see your pores enlarging. You really need to be diligent with cleansing. - ya*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 11, 2025
It covers uneven skin texture well and makes your complexion smooth! I also loved how it brightens the areas where it's applied, giving a radiant finish along with coverage. Even when applied thinly, it dries out and flakes off easily after spreading it all over. - se*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 26, 2025
More natural brightening than the Serenity line from the same range! Mix it with foundation for a peachy complexion It's quite pricey... The value for money is a bit disappointing. Also, it causes slight skin irritation - el*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessRednessDead Skin CellsFeb 16, 2025
If you have a pink undertone rather than yellow, I'd recommend this. I used it for a while to prevent darkening and it worked well. First off, you really need to stay on top of moisturizing as it can be quite drying, especially deep down. As someone with super sensitive combination dehydrated skin, the citric acid ingredient caused a lot of tingling and a burning sensation, so I had to stop using it. - he********Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityDead Skin CellsFeb 14, 2025
It applies thinly with a beautiful rose quartz hue! The brightening moisturizer really evens out your skin tone. The way it absorbs is quite nice too. There's a noticeable difference between your face and neck color, which can look a bit awkward. You can't exactly slather primer all over your neck... I'd recommend this for shade 19 and above. - en******Combination SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 12, 2025
Apply this as a base and just a light touch of cushion foundation, and your skin looks amazing There are no downsides! It doesn't cause any blemishes and it's perfect. I wish I could keep this secret to myself Use a thin, hydrating cushion foundation! - si******Oily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJan 26, 2025
Brightening effect: It provides a brightening effect similar to the second photo. Rather than making your skin appear stark white, it helps even out yellowish undertones while brightening your complexion. There's a slight difference from the photo - it's not a dramatic brightening effect. However, I believe it will meet your expectations for brightening. Longevity: When applied thinly on the face and patted in thoroughly with a cushion puff, the longevity was quite good. Adherence: When applied to the face, there was some minor settling into pores, though not severe. If you're planning to apply it liberally like a brightening moisturizer, you may experience some pore-settling. However, if you apply it carefully using a brush or puff, like you would with a cushion foundation or liquid foundation, it should be fine! I recommend this product for those who want to even out yellowish undertones and brighten their complexion, rather than those looking for a heavy brightening moisturizer effect. It's also great for those who want to extend the wear of their eyeshadow! I suggest applying a thin layer to the skin and patting it in with a puff for best results. - gq********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedJan 23, 2025
It's great for brightening your complexion before applying makeup. I love how it gives a beautiful radiance rather than an unnatural whiteness. It doesn't quite live up to its claims as a primer. Nevertheless, it's still quite usable. Applying it to your cheekbones enhances the effect beautifully.
