  I was in need of a wash-off mask, and luckily I spotted a great deal on Hwahae, so I decided to give it a try. It's a product I've had my eye on for a while. I'm a fan of cosmetics made from grains, and this wash-off mask contains rice wine lees, rice bran powder, and honey. The scent is reminiscent of rice wine, with subtle notes of grains. The texture is cream-like but feels a bit heavier. With the rice bran powder, it seems promising for dead skin cell removal. After use, I was pleased to notice my skin looked brighter.

  Cons

  However, I experienced a burning and tingling sensation immediately after applying it to my skin. Because of this, I don't think I'll be able to use it frequently. Please keep in mind that individual experiences may vary.

  It's gentle on the skin, and the day after using it, my skin texture always feels refined and smooth.

  Cons

  You might experience an allergic reaction on first use. Also, every time I use it, I notice a water-like substance pooling in the cream. It makes me a bit uneasy. The cream seems to be separating, but I'm not sure what this liquid is.

  Pros

  I loved that it didn't irritate my skin at all. After using it, I didn't feel any dryness, and my face felt so soft and smooth. It was great that it came with a spatula!

  Cons

  The scent might be quite divisive - I personally didn't like it. After applying, I felt a tingling sensation as time passed. When I looked up other reviews, I found quite a few people who also experienced this tingling.

  Pros

  The scrub wasn't as harsh as I expected! As someone who enjoys exfoliation, I didn't find it unpleasant at all.

  Cons

  It stung terribly as soon as I applied it... Though it was supposed to be left on for 5-10 minutes, I washed it off after just 3 minutes. Sigh... I'm not sure if it's because of this or the dry weather, but my skin barrier seems damaged, which is disheartening. The first two photos were taken two days before use, and the third and fourth were taken right after using the product.

  Tip

  I'd recommend it for body use. It even provides a bit of hydration.

  Skin type: Blemish-prone sensitive skin, occasional small bumps, combination-oily. The spatula included in the box is handy. When you spread it on your face, there's a familiar yet unique fermented scent. I'm not sensitive to fragrances, so it doesn't bother me. It applies smoothly on the face. After applying a thick layer all over, you can go about your routine before washing it off. After just one use, my face feels refreshed and looks clearer. Although the effect doesn't last forever, I think consistent use could yield good results. It's also effective for removing dead skin cells.

  Cons

  When I first received the product, my skin was in a sensitive state with small bumps. When applied, there's a slight tingling sensation on sensitive areas like the tip of the nose. It might be best to avoid using this when your skin is particularly sensitive.

  The particles are quite large, so you need to be very gentle when washing it off to avoid irritation.

  Love that it comes with a spatula! I apply it to my face in dabs without pressing too hard, then spread it. For areas the spatula can't reach, I use my hands. It has a scent and some exfoliating particles. After use, my skin felt incredibly soft - so much so that after cleansing and applying toner and emulsion, I couldn't believe it was my own face! No skin irritation, though a small blemish appeared (likely unrelated to the mask).

  The spatula becomes super slippery if wet or coated with the mask, making it hard to handle. It also feels a bit small after repeated use. The scent was initially off-putting, but I got used to it after about 30 seconds. First application stung quite a bit, like soap in a cut, but the sensation subsided after a minute. The exfoliating particles can be a bit harsh when washing off - it felt like I was doing a peel.
