Since it's meant to be washed off after 5 minutes, if you leave it on longer, you need to dampen it and gently massage before rinsing (it dries out if left for more than 5 minutes).

I tried a sample first, and as someone with dry and super sensitive skin, I usually can't use scrubs with granules (my face reacts badly). When I first applied it, I was surprised to feel the particles... but there was absolutely no irritation! In fact, my skin felt even softer than after a regular cleanse. The 5-minute wait time not only exfoliates but also acts like a mask, so I think it's really improving my skin. Plus, you get a generous amount of product!
