As someone with skin that typically matches shade 22 in other brands, I decided to try Abouton's foundation in shade 23 after hearing it runs light. Surprisingly, it was darker than I expected based on reviews! The matte formula is perfect for combination dehydrated or oily skin types, especially in summer. I wore it on a day when I was out for hours, and it didn't budge or oxidize. I'm really impressed with this product! It sets quickly, so you need to apply and blend one area at a time. Since it's definitely a matte formula, those with dry skin should make sure to layer on plenty of hydrating skincare beforehand. Pro tip: Pair the Abouton foundation with the green powder from Daiso. It's amazing... your makeup won't budge even when you sweat! - ch*******Oily SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 24, 2025
This drugstore foundation is a game-changer! The staying power is truly impressive, and it adheres perfectly to the skin without causing excessive dryness. I'm absolutely in love with it. The shade 23 has a beautifully subtle tone that I adore! While it applies decently even with a quick application, I highly recommend using the right tools and taking your time for a meticulous application. When done properly, this foundation can easily last for 10 hours without budging! I strongly suggest everyone invest in good application tools. The shade 23 is genuinely close to a true 23. Don't compare it to other drugstore brands' 23 shades - this one is unique. - st******Combination SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedJun 18, 2025
As a 22-23 shade user with combination skin prone to sweating and peach fuzz: Texture: Rich and creamy, initially applies moisturizing but quickly sets to a semi-matte finish (apply swiftly or you'll need to remove and reapply). - Color: Shade 23 Natural, surprisingly yellow-toned rather than ivory. However, it settles to about half a shade lighter than your neck after a while, so those who dislike a stark contrast should opt for shade 23 (added bonus: increased coverage eliminates the need for concealer). - Staying power: Absolutely top-notch. Even in 30°C summer heat, it doesn't melt off. It only releases excess oil without any patchiness (great!). - Coverage Pores, texture, blemishes, dark spots: 2 out of 3 stars Heat-induced redness: Not effective - The color is excessively yellow-toned Although it eventually lightens to half a shade brighter than your neck... if only they could reduce the yellow undertone slightly. - Requires a specific applicator Without a damp sponge, it can look matte and patchy. You might need to invest in a higher-quality applicator. For best results, use The Tool Lab's Aqua Puff. Pair it with Mamonde Liquid Mask as a base, and it applies beautifully. - mi******Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 1, 2025
The coverage and adherence are both impressive. It really sticks to the skin nicely. However, I wouldn't recommend this for those with dry skin. Even with double cleansing, I occasionally get blemishes after using this product. It's not severe, but it makes me hesitant to use it as part of my daily routine. The risk of breakouts adds a bit of worry to regular use. For those with combination dehydrated skin or super sensitive skin, you might want to patch test first. While it works hard to provide good coverage, it may not be suitable for everyone's complexion. - wj*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMay 28, 2025
It adheres well to the skin and barely breaks down even as time passes. I don't have any complaints. It doesn't cause blemishes, doesn't look cakey, and I'm very satisfied with it. Rather than dotting it on, I find that using a spatula or brush to spread it out, then gently patting it with a puff creates a more beautiful complexion. - sy*****Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 16, 2025
At this price, this level of quality..? The semi-matte texture is already top-tier, as it doesn't burden the skin. It's a total pass!! The biggest advantage is that it doesn't cause any darkening. Even over time, it doesn't get messy. Those that crumble and cling to the pores, making the skin look terrible - this one just blends naturally with the original sebum, leaving a slight sheen. You can just dab on some blotting paper or powder compact to control the oil, making it super easy and great to touch up. Hey, there was a lot of talk about packaging, and I've experienced it too (haha). This pumping device seems a bit cheap. After using it for a while, you can see the foundation liquid inside, but it doesn't come out well. There are times when the frustration level goes up a lot during a busy morning. When you press it really hard, it does come out! - ha*********Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedApr 28, 2025
The complexion match was perfect, and it gave me a beautifully natural skin appearance. I don't have any particular complaints yet, as I haven't been using it for very long. A little goes a long way, so be careful with the amount you use - it's more product than you might expect. - kn******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 27, 2025
The coverage is quite impressive, and it seems to last a long time on the skin. It also gives a smooth complexion, which is nice. Those with dry skin might find it a bit drying. Even those with oily skin might experience some dryness during the winter months. - se*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessRecommendedApr 21, 2025
✳️Taking isotretinoin with dry, sensitive skin✳️ I've been using this product since before starting isotretinoin and for over a month while on it, so I can review it from both a combination dehydrated and dry skin perspective! -Perfect for combination dehydrated/oily skin🥰 Slightly disappointing for dry skin😂- ✅Texture Excellent adherence with minimal transfer, providing a matte finish ✅Formula Thick consistency that doesn't run, but spreads easily ✅Longevity No need for touch-ups when using this product Didn't notice significant darkening Depending on your skincare base, it can give a semi-matte to matte finish As time passes, a slight natural glow emerges as oils surface ✅Accessibility Easily accessible with good value for money ❎Dryness Can't recommend for dry skin ❎Blemishes and irritation Slight irritation and occasional folliculitis Apart from these two issues, it's an amazing holy grail product.. 💚(Except for extremely oily skin types) Mix the Dewy BB cream with the About Tone Foundation Apply using a spatula or flat brush, then Gently pat with a damp beauty sponge!! This method helps reduce dryness - ki*************Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesRednessRecommendedApr 1, 2025
I've been using this for about a month, and I must say, when applied with a spatula, it spreads incredibly thinly. While it felt thick when squeezed out, it applied smoothly and moisturized well, which I loved. Because it goes on so thin, you can layer it multiple times without it looking cakey, which is great. Once it sets, it has a semi-matte finish. As for staying power, with powder and fixer, it lasts nearly 10 hours with minimal breakdown. First off, the color is too yellow-based. Other shades have a beautiful ivory tone, but this one is excessively yellow. So even though the staying power is good, it oxidizes to a very yellow shade, almost like darkening. Also, it really doesn't cover textured skin well. It can somewhat cover freckles after multiple layers, but it absolutely fails to conceal skin texture. I suspect it wouldn't do a great job covering large pores either. Given its overly yellow base, I think it would be best to use a brightening moisturizer as a makeup base or mix in a bit of color corrector to balance out the tone.
