It's gentle enough for super sensitive skin, causing no blemishes or irritation.
ConsFor those with dry skin, using this alone might not provide enough hydration, so a moisturizer is essential. It absorbs quickly, which tends to make you apply more generously. As a result, the emulsion seems to run out twice as fast as the toner.

The slightly runny, off-white formula is fragrance-free, making it perfect for everyday use. It absorbs well and doesn't just sit on top of the skin, which I really appreciate. It has a refreshing feel that's great for the skin. Sometimes emulsions can leave an oily residue that causes deep dryness or blemishes, but I didn't experience any of those issues with this product. The oil and moisture balance is spot-on, making it ideal for transitional seasons like we're in now. I was worried about potential breakouts due to the emulsion's natural richness, but thankfully that wasn't a problem at all. While it might not be enough on its own for my very dry skin at night, I find that layering a suitable amount in the morning allows me to skip my usual cream. It's perfect for those who want a lighter skincare routine before makeup. I've noticed it even helps smooth out my skin texture, so it's become a must-have in my pre-makeup routine! As the weather gets drier, I've been paying more attention to my skincare, and this emulsion really helps maintain that crucial oil and moisture balance. It's such a relief not to worry about either excessive oiliness or dryness throughout the day. After using this product, I don't feel any deep dryness, and my makeup doesn't look patchy or break down unattractively. Now I understand why they emphasize the phrase 'makeup-friendly emulsion'! When used as a base before makeup, it applies smoothly without pilling and really helps the makeup adhere well. I'm impressed by how flawless my makeup looks even after application, and how it maintains a beautiful finish without getting messy as the day goes on.
ConsThe packaging becomes a bit inconvenient with continued use. While I understand why they chose this type of container for an emulsion, it's hard to dispense the product evenly. If you're not careful, you might end up with more product than you intended. As I use it more, I can't help but think a pump or tube design might have been better.
TipWhen used together with the ampoule from the same Dictionist line, it seems to make your makeup adhere even better and look more flawless!

First off, as an emulsion, the product has a thin consistency that absorbs beautifully! It absorbs quickly and effectively tackles deep dryness, which I found fantastic. Moreover, it's an excellent product to use before applying makeup! There's no pilling, and it sinks in lightly, making it perfect for prepping the skin for makeup application.
ConsGiven that it's an emulsion, it might be challenging to use on its own without applying it with a silicone brush. Other than that, I don't have any complaints!
TipWhen applying your skincare before makeup, using a silicone brush to spread the emulsion allows for a lightweight application without any deep dryness.

Due to my extreme inner dryness, I prefer products that provide deep hydration. Texture: It's a semi-transparent emulsion with a moderately thin consistency. It's neither too thick nor too runny! Application: Being an emulsion, I was worried it might feel greasy, but surprisingly, it finishes smoothly without any stickiness! While it doesn't leave a completely matte finish, it's not far from it. What's more, it doesn't cause any tightness, which I absolutely love about its feel! Scent: It's fragrance-free, which is great as there's nothing to irritate the senses! Overall: I think this emulsion is perfect for balancing oil and moisture in combination dehydrated skin! During seasonal changes, my skin often peels due to dryness, but while using this product, I didn't experience any such symptoms. Moreover, it didn't leave my skin feeling greasy, which I'm very satisfied with!
ConsThe product cap isn't the most user-friendly. It's a bit cumbersome to open the lid every time and carefully control the amount squeezed out.

It's definitely lighter than a cream, absorbs well, and provides great hydration. I even tried using it alone, skipping other steps, and was satisfied with how moisturizing it was without any tightness. It might be sufficient on its own during summer. Quick absorption, non-sticky freshness I love how it absorbs rapidly without leaving any residue on the skin, and there's no stickiness. It has just the right amount of richness, and immediately after application, my skin looks more refined with a natural glow, giving an overall improved complexion. Gentle, fragrance-free emulsion Personally, I avoid products with strong scents, so I appreciate that this one is nearly fragrance-free, making it suitable for everyone regardless of scent preferences. I didn't experience any tingling or blemishes when I first used it, and I've been using it without any issues since. No pilling or sliding, perfect for makeup application I had high expectations after hearing it was a 'makeup cheat code', and it truly excels when applying makeup. It naturally refines skin texture, applies more thinly than a cream, and absorbs quickly, resulting in zero pilling. With its balanced richness and hydration, it creates a great base for makeup. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I find this product hits the sweet spot - light enough to avoid oiliness, but moisturizing enough to prevent dryness. It doesn't cause makeup to break down quickly like heavier products can. I'm really satisfied with finding such a well-balanced product.
ConsSo far, I haven't found any downsides, so I'll need to keep using it to see. I hope it continues to work well for me and becomes a staple in my routine.

The product is definitely gentle, so there's no skin irritation. My butterfly zone pores and uneven texture were stressing me out, but the texture has noticeably improved! While it's not a dramatic, glass-skin transformation, the pores have definitely shrunk in size and coverage. It also combats deep dryness really well. Even when I went camping and wore makeup from morning to night, I didn't experience any tightness at all! (As someone with extremely dry skin, my makeup usually separates after a while, but this time it didn't budge at all...)
ConsThis seems unavoidable due to its emulsion texture... When first applied, rather than instantly adhering to the skin, it feels like it sits on top a bit? It takes a little time to absorb deep into the skin... That was slightly disappointing...
TipYou can cover a wide area with just a tiny amount of this product! Even a pea-sized amount is enough to cover your whole face! Now that the weather is getting colder and drier, I'd recommend this to anyone with dry skin who's worried about their makeup separating.

Regular moisturizers left my skin dry quickly, and rich, nourishing creams felt a bit heavy. This emulsion texture seems just right - like a mix between a hydrating serum and a cream. I love how it feels when I apply it all over my face and layer it on areas prone to dryness. It gives a sense of balanced oil and moisture throughout. I didn't know emulsions could be this good, but now I prefer them to creams. I wish there were more emulsion products out there, especially with high-performance benefits like antioxidants and firming properties. It's also great to use before makeup. It combats deep dryness while creating a good base for makeup, and the hydration lasts long. Best of all, it's not greasy. I'm really satisfied with this product.
ConsThere's not much to dislike, though a pump dispenser might be more convenient. I'd love to see versions with high-performance ingredients for antioxidant or firming effects. I'm very satisfied with the texture and how it balances oil and moisture to combat deep dryness. I wonder why most high-performance products come as creams or serums instead of emulsions...

Thanks to this, it absorbs quickly, which is a big plus! I have combination dehydrated skin, and after using it for about a week, I noticed my deep dryness improved significantly. However, it does leave a bit of richness on the skin after absorption, so those with extremely oily skin might find this aspect challenging.
ConsUnfortunately, the product doesn't come in a tube. You have to press it out, which makes it difficult to control the amount. I always end up dispensing too much, which is a bit frustrating.
TipTo maximize its benefits, try applying it selectively on drier areas of your skin!

As the weather got colder, my base makeup started to flake easily even with a solid skincare routine. But with this amino acid emulsion, there's zero flaking. It might feel a bit rich at first, but over time it absorbs well, leaving only hydration and an Inner Glow. ▫️User Experience With consistent use, I noticed my skin texture improving and those tiny bumps disappearing. It also addresses deep dryness, so I don't need to layer multiple products for my base skincare, which is great. ▫️Scent When skincare products have an unpleasant scent, it tends to linger and discourages me from using them. This product, however, is nearly fragrance-free, so I can use it without any concerns.
Cons▪️Packaging The packaging looks a bit cheap? The toner had a similar container, so it seems they've cut costs on packaging to focus on the product itself. ▪️Texture For those with very dry skin, using the emulsion alone might not feel hydrating enough.

It's neither stuffy nor drying. Even in the dry weather transitioning into winter, just using the toner and emulsion maintained hydration for a long time. While the lip area got dry quickly due to wiping and brushing teeth, the rest of my face remained moisturized. It's a gentle type of emulsion with top-notch absorption - a small amount is enough to cover the entire face. It addressed deep dryness and didn't cause any blemishes. While many hydrating emulsions tend to be greasy and heavy, the Doctorinist emulsion felt rather refreshing.
ConsIf I had to pick one minor issue, it's that sometimes when dispensing, air escapes and a bit too much product comes out, even though a small amount is sufficient for full coverage.
TipWhen staying at home, the toner and emulsion alone were enough. (The art of dispensing?) When going out, I added the Doctorinist ampoule in between.
