This serum has a slightly thin, viscous texture that applies smoothly and absorbs well into the skin. I've been using it morning and night, followed by a cream as a second layer. While I didn't expect miracles for pore tightening, it's great as a serum.
ConsWhen used before makeup, there's a bit of pilling. I consistently applied it to blemish-prone areas, and while it didn't cause more blemishes, it didn't improve them either. I'm not sure about combination dehydrated or oily skin types, but it might work better if applied thinly around the pores rather than all over the face.
TipWhen your skin isn't at its best, it's also good to apply the serum thinly using a clean brush or puff.

I liked that it wasn't too light!! (I've had experiences with blemishes from products that were too light ㅜ) However, for a product with such a substantial feel, Real Barrier absorbs well!! To be honest, while the testing period was a bit short, I did see effects in tightening pores~ If you're looking for a retinol product that's not too light, or if you're a beginner to retinol, I recommend this~! As someone with oily to combination skin, it suited me well for this season!!
ConsAfter cleansing, there was a slight peeling of skin, not quite dead skin cells, but just a bit of flaking. It wasn't severe, just a gentle sloughing off~~ I rinsed with a bit more water, and there was no irritation, so it wasn't too disappointing! ◠‿◠
TipRetinol is said to be suitable for nighttime care! If used during the day, it's recommended to apply sunscreen~~

It feels reminiscent of snail essence (intangible). I've been using it twice daily, morning and night, and I appreciate its fragrance-free and gentle nature. When applying, it feels slippery and slightly sticky, but it absorbs quickly, making it suitable for summer use. While I haven't noticed any pore improvement effects yet, it agrees well with my super sensitive skin, which I find satisfying.
ConsUsing this product during this season can lead to excessive dryness and dead skin cells appearing, along with a pilling effect. Therefore, I recommend using it in the evening.

As someone who struggles with visible pores, I was particularly concerned about my T-zone. I applied a bit more product there and consistently followed up with hydrating products. As a result, my pores seemed less noticeable when applying makeup! While it may not have the dramatic effects of some more intensive treatments, those can be difficult to use daily. I recommend incorporating this serum into your everyday skincare regimen for consistent results! Despite having sensitive skin, I was worried about potential allergic reactions, but I experienced none at all! There was absolutely no tingling or irritation either.
ConsI recommend using this only at night. After applying the serum and completing the rest of my skincare routine, I found that my makeup would pill when applied on top. Even though I thought a hydrating serum would be helpful during dry weather, the pilling was too much of an issue, so I ended up only using it before bed.
TipUsing a serum alone won't make enlarged pores disappear completely. I recommend using this serum after a sheet mask, and following it up with a hydrating emulsion and moisturizer. Even if pores appear tighter, a lack of hydration can undo the benefits. My suggestion is to combine this serum with plenty of hydrating products for the best results!

I was pleasantly surprised to find it contains retinol, which helps reduce pores and improve skin texture, along with bakuchiol, a popular retinol alternative that's been gaining attention lately. As someone with super sensitive skin, I usually can't use retinol often. I was skeptical about potential irritation, but upon use, it feels incredibly lightweight and clean, absorbing well in no time. Thankfully, there was no itching, suggesting it's a well-stabilized product. While I need to use it longer to be sure, my complexion already seems smoother, which I'm quite satisfied with.
ConsI wouldn't recommend using this before makeup. While it doesn't cause pilling, it can leave the skin feeling a bit dry.
TipMost of you probably know this, but due to the retinol content, it's better to use this at night rather than in the morning. After application, it's crucial to either wear a hat or make sure to apply sunscreen for protection.

I use about a rice grain-sized amount every other day on my entire face. Even with my super sensitive skin, it doesn't cause any tingling sensation. While retinol is known for its drying effects, I don't feel any dryness with this product. As for effectiveness, it's still too early to tell...
ConsIf you apply too much, it can make your skin look greasy and cause your makeup to pill. Overuse may lead to blemishes.

I used it for 3-4 days before realizing it was meant for evening use only! It didn't seem to cause any issues though! *Around day 5, I experienced significant dead skin cell buildup Being extremely dry-skinned, I always apply a non-comedogenic product as the final step in my skincare routine Perhaps because of this, the dead skin cells started sloughing off like a mask. After stopping for a few days, my skin became absolutely radiant..!
ConsIf there's a downside, it's the noticeable process of dead skin cell shedding? At first, I struggled to figure out which skincare product was causing pilling (there was no irritation though)
TipEvening use only!! I think it works best when applied for 3 days, then taking a 4-day break, in this kind of cycle!

Fortunately, this Real Barrier product contains both ingredients, which I loved! It's a serum with a slightly ivory, very faintly yellow tint that absorbs well. I was worried about irritation from retinol products, but this one applies nicely without any irritation. Surprisingly, even after just a few days of use, my skin texture became smoother, which was amazing. I think with consistent use, I can expect significant pore improvement!
ConsThose who prefer liquid-type serums might find this one a bit milky. Personally, while I like liquid textures for hydrating serums, I found the milky consistency of this functional serum to have better absorption!
TipI apply the Real Barrier pore serum after cleansing my skin with a low pH toner. If my skin feels dry, I sometimes add a hydrating ampoule. I've found that maintaining skin hydration and then applying functional products like this seems to be the most effective routine!
