Having blemish-prone combination dehydrated skin, I've always struggled to find the right sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens were too drying, while chemical ones worried me about blemishes and rich feel. I think I might settle on this product. True to its name as a hydrating sunscreen, it feels like applying a light moisturizer. It absorbs well with a cool, refreshing sensation without leaving any sticky residue. What I loved most was that it didn't affect my base makeup (no pilling, etc.). On days when I only wore this product, I noticed it immediately dissolved into a white lather when I wet my face to cleanse. While it might not be resistant to sweat or water, this suggests it should be easy to remove.
ConsThe scent isn't pleasant. It smells like something burnt, similar to charcoal, with a slight chemical odor. However, it's not overwhelmingly unpleasant each time you use it, and after using it once or twice, you get used to it and hardly notice it anymore.

For those with acne-prone skin, using the wrong sunscreen (especially organic UV filters) can cause skin reactions. As someone with both acne and red scars, I was worried about not wearing sunscreen due to scar concerns, but also hesitant to apply it for fear of irritation. This sunscreen seems perfect for those with similar concerns! As shown in the photo, it initially provides some hydration when applied, and finishes by addressing deep dryness without leaving a sticky residue, which I loved! I've used it consistently for about a week, and it suited my sensitive skin well - I haven't had any skin reactions since using it! Honestly, I thought this type of functional sunscreen might not be great under makeup, but surprisingly, it didn't cause my makeup to separate or pill, and it absorbed well! It also helps with deep dryness, which is great for the current dry weather. I always used to get chapped or flaky skin around my mouth, but strangely, that improved after using this sunscreen - not sure why, though? I was already a fan of Pation's Trouble Cream, so this suited me even better! Regarding Pation's claims: 1. Worry-free sun care even after 9 reapplications = I didn't apply it 9 times, but even after 3 reapplications, there was no skin irritation at all! 2. No stickiness or heaviness = For a product that addresses deep dryness, it wasn't sticky at all! However, as I have oily skin, I needed to use blotting paper or powder in some areas when not wearing makeup for comfort when going out. The light finish means no heavy feeling! 3. Moisturizing effect equivalent to applying moisturizer 3 times (Aqua UV filter) = I admit it's the most hydrating sunscreen I've used, but it's not quite as moisturizing as a dedicated moisturizer. However, considering the winter, dry weather, and my combination dehydrated skin, the moisturizing effect is quite good! It's even better if you're thorough with your skincare routine. 4. Gentle sun care that's comfortable on the skin, from hydration and soothing to photoaging care = It is indeed comfortable on the skin and provides hydration and soothing effects! As for photoaging care, I've been diligent about applying sunscreen from a young age, and I haven't used this for an extremely long time yet, so I'm not sure... Sunscreen is essential though!!! In summary! ⭐️⭐️ I think I can recommend this to: - Those with acne-prone skin looking for a non-irritating sunscreen - Those with acne-prone skin who need to wear sunscreen under makeup - Those looking for an acne-focused functional sunscreen that can be worn under makeup Unless you're only looking for makeup-friendly features, this is a good sunscreen to use comfortably if you have sensitive skin or are worried about your skin barrier in winter. I'm very careful about choosing sunscreens due to my sensitive skin, and this has been the least irritating sunscreen I've used, so I think I'll use it well all year round! ++ There's absolutely no white cast!!!
ConsThe size is a bit small... The scent isn't typical for sunscreen, it's more like a blemish cream? I'm not particularly sensitive to fragrances and it's not an unpleasant scent at all, so it's fine for me, but for those who might be sensitive...

I applied it for about a week during my commute. I have sensitive skin around my eyes and combination skin elsewhere, and now in my 40s, I'm experiencing some dryness too. In my 20s, I avoided sunscreen due to excess oil, but as I've aged, sun protection has become essential. The most important factors for me in a sunscreen are scent, application, moisturizing power, and SPF. These days, most sunscreens offer excellent UV protection. This one has a refreshing scent, similar to tea tree or herbs. When applied after my skin emulsion, it provides sufficient hydration. The moisturizing effect lasts surprisingly long - even on the back of my hand, it leaves a glossy finish! I tried it on my sensitive eye area and didn't experience any irritation. While it doesn't provide coverage as it's a sunscreen, I appreciate that it doesn't leave a white cast.
ConsOne downside is that it doesn't offer any coverage, unlike some tone-up sunscreens that provide a bit of a concealing effect. It would be nice if it had slight coverage. I used it when I had blemishes, and while it wasn't bad and didn't feel greasy, it didn't help conceal them. Also, if you dislike tea tree scents, you might not enjoy the fragrance. Personally, I prefer it to artificial sunscreen smells.
TipThe texture feels somewhat like an eye cream. Mixing it with a moisturizer could enhance hydration, so those who only apply sunscreen might be able to maintain moisture all day. Since it doesn't leave a white cast, it's convenient to carry around and reapply as needed.
