I usually wear shade 23, but I bought this cushion in shade 22 since I use the About Tone foundation in that color. Personally, I don't feel much of a mismatch - it gives a clear, radiant look. The semi-matte formula leaves a slightly powdery finish after application. It seems like a great texture for summer use. It doesn't emphasize pores and covers them well. I actually prefer this cushion to the foundation. While it might apply a bit thicker, with proper amount control, it gives a smoother finish. I didn't experience any blemishes after using it. Perhaps because I'm using a shade lighter than my usual, I didn't notice any darkening. Touch-ups are easy too - you can just remove slightly patchy areas and reapply, and it blends seamlessly without leaving any visible edges! The adherence when applying seems a bit lacking, as there's some transfer. While I like that the puff is large, it's a bit loose, and the X-string design makes it slightly inconvenient to insert your finger in one go. Since the shade runs light, I'd recommend testing before purchasing. It pairs well with the About Tone powder too! - is*****Oily SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedMay 20, 2025
Having already been using About-ton foundation, I immediately ordered their cushion as soon as it was released. While most cushion brands offer shades in 23, 21, and 17, About-ton has a 22 shade which is perfect for my complexion that falls between 23 and 21. The formula is like a red bean bun, holding the foundation within. The feel of both the cushion and foundation is quite similar. However, despite both being shade 22, there's a subtle difference in color. About-ton's greatest strengths are its excellent staying power and how well it pairs with most sunscreens and brightening moisturizers. It applies smoothly on the skin, and once set, gives a flawless skin finish that's simply superb. The texture after setting is similar to the Amuse Ceramic Cushion, but while Amuse has a slightly oilier, dewy feel, About-ton controls oil well, leaving a semi-matte finish. If you have oily-prone skin like me, you'll likely be more satisfied with About-ton. The coverage is medium, comparable to the Amuse cushion. It's less coverage than Hera Black, Jung Saem Mool Long Wear, or Espoir Be Velvet cushions. While I love the About-ton cushion, I need higher coverage, so I use it with About-ton's concealer. You can buy the same shade as the cushion, and the concealer sets much faster. The cushion is on the matte side, so it sets slightly quickly. However, while Espoir Be Velvet cushion is completely matte, About-ton should be considered semi-matte. The cushion case is absolutely gorgeous, but its slightly thick design makes your makeup bag feel quite full when you carry it around. After setting, the About-ton cushion gives a subtle glow. If you want a soft, powdery skin finish, try using it with About-ton's powder pact. The two work incredibly well together, improving both longevity and skin appearance - it's a thumbs up! - h2********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedMay 12, 2025
Great coverage and excellent adherence. Even though I have combination skin with a super dry nose area, it doesn't flake off! Among all the matte cushions I've tried, this one fades the most beautifully. I found that even the 22 shade is quite light, similar to 21. I'd recommend ordering one shade darker than usual. If you pat it in firmly, it really helps to minimize the appearance of pores! - yo********Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMay 10, 2025
I don't usually leave reviews for products unless I bought them on Hwahae or they're skincare essentials, but About Tone is a brand I truly love, so here goes. For reference, I've included a photo comparing it with my usual base products - though they might not be major brands, so it may not be super helpful! I have a deep undertone and yellow-toned dry skin with an oily T-zone, so I'm always on the hunt for a muted shade 21 and prefer semi-matte to matte finishes. I loved About Tone's foundation, so I immediately snagged their cushion too. Buying directly from them offers great perks (not sure if that's still the case). This cushion runs light, so I got shade 22, which matches my skin perfectly for a natural look. It doesn't make me look pale or create a noticeable difference with my neck. Staying power? Legendary. I'm out all day and never touch up, and this cushion outperforms. I can't compare it to high-end brands like Hera, but it's known for not darkening throughout the day. Does it cake? Not usually, but it can if I mess up my skincare routine. With proper hydration and my go-to SKIN1004 sunscreen underneath, it doesn't cake at all. It doesn't break down weirdly either - just gets a bit dewy by evening. If you have dry or combination dehydrated skin, focus on good skincare prep. I think it'll work even better in summer. No blemishes for my sensitive skin, and the ingredients are pretty good too. Great value - when I bought it, I got the main product plus 2 refills for just 22,000 won on Zigzag (though prices may have changed). The sponge is apparently patented and different from regular cushions. It dispenses quite a bit of product, so you'll need to control the amount. The puff! It looks cute with two strings, but it's too thin and doesn't feel great to use. I switched to a puff from The Tool Lab instead. I wish the cushion lid had a little palette area for dispensing product. Also, maybe because it's so full, a bit of foundation keeps getting on the inner lid. The case is on the chubby side. I don't mind because I like the packaging, but if portability is important to you, it might not be ideal. There are 5 shades available, but I really wish they'd make a shade between 21 and 22. Of course, I'll keep using 22 either way! I use the cushion case as a mirror. I recommend using a different puff. Be careful not to press too hard at first when the sponge is white - the amount of product that comes out is no joke! - su*******Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesDead Skin CellsRecommendedMay 4, 2025
I was tempted by the packaging, but I'm pleasantly surprised. It applies thinly and the shade matches my complexion well. There's nothing bad to say! It doesn't break down easily, and it's convenient to control the amount. It's absolutely fantastic! - jp*****Oily SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedApr 29, 2025
For a cushion foundation, it really holds up well without breaking down. Even with my extremely oily skin, it maintains a decent complexion throughout the day! For shade 22, it's surprisingly light. Those who usually wear shade 21 should opt for this instead. - ch*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 28, 2025
I heard so many people say it's bright, so I bought shade 22 to cover my redness. Usually, 21 was just right for me. The coverage is medium to high, but the pore coverage is insane! It has a buildable formula and absorbs into the skin beautifully. I've tried many new foundations recently, but this is the first decent base I've found in a while. There's a tiny bit of pilling around the nose, but it's fine if you apply a small amount with a pore brush. Other than that, I have no complaints. At first, since the sponge is white, if you dip it in too much, it really picks up a lot of product. Use just a light touch when applying. - dl**********Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedApr 27, 2025
Skin type: Combination dehydrated, blemish-prone, sensitive (drier than usual due to acne medication), deep undertone vivid, shade 22-23 To cut to the chase, I absolutely adore this cushion foundation! I've tried quite a few, and I was debating between a regular foundation or a cushion when my go-to for touch-ups ran out. So glad I gave this a try! Keep in mind that skincare products can vary greatly depending on skin type. If your skin is similar to mine, please give this a shot! The texture feels like a semi-matte to me. Even with my current dry skin, it didn't cause any dryness or dead skin cells to show. Not sure about extremely dry skin types though. Shade selection is crucial. I usually wear 22-23 but prefer a brighter look, so I often use 21. I bought 22 in this, and it felt quite light - definitely not your average 22, more like 19-21. Many reviews mention it runs light, which I can confirm. I'd recommend going one shade lower than your usual. What I loved most was the absence of oxidation and its staying power. I applied this, didn't touch up or use powder, even took a long nap, and woke up to find it still looking flawless! I was genuinely shocked. I don't usually write such long reviews, but I'm thrilled to have found a cushion I love this much. For those who prefer a quick summary: TL;DR: Shades run light, so choose one lower than usual. Semi-matte finish, medium-high coverage, medium adherence, low pore-clogging, medium-high pore-blurring, applies thinly (considering its coverage) very well, highly satisfactory packaging (slightly heavy). If I had to nitpick, the shades run quite light, so you need to research carefully before buying. It's also a bit heavier than other cushion foundations. - sa*********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesRecommendedApr 23, 2025
#22 shade #Autumn Soft #Dry skin #5 out of 5 stars ✔️ Color: 3 points I usually use shade 21, and this is indeed lighter. It has a slightly grayish undertone. ✔️ Adherence and application: 5 points Applying it is truly fascinating. It adheres incredibly thinly and smoothly, yet it's easy to control. The application is genuinely impressive. ✔️ Coverage: 4 points Even without a corrector, it feels like it covers everything effectively due to its coverage power. 🔊 Breakdown: 2.5 points (for dry skin only) It doesn't break down beautifully on dry skin. It starts to separate over time. It's not extreme, but I absolutely can't tolerate any separation. I only recommend this for oily skin types. - mi*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedApr 17, 2025
Unlike other cushions that caused blemishes, this one doesn't give me any skin troubles! It's the best! If you control the amount well, it applies thinly and evenly. And the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! The puff strap was a bit too wide for my taste, so it didn't give that snug fit around my finger. It tends to emphasize dark circles and bluish tones around the mouth area, which isn't very flattering. Make sure to use a separate concealer for dark circles.
