It absorbs beautifully and seems to reduce oil production after application. It's an absolute must-have before applying makeup! The only downside is the price, but it's great to snag during sales. I wish they'd offer more discounts. Paula's Choice is a brand I trust and buy with confidence. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinFeb 9, 2017
As someone with oily skin that tends to get shiny, applying the Shine Stopper keeps my face feeling soft and matte for about 4 hours However, I've noticed that about 3 days after using this, I tend to get 2-3 blemishes. Because of this, I can't use it daily and only apply it occasionally when I remember - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinDec 8, 2016
It feels like a hydrating essence, but when applied it quickly absorbs and leaves skin feeling soft and matte. Highly recommended for those who dislike sticky textures. It definitely controls oil well. While it might not last all day, it easily holds up for 3-5 hours. If you blot with a tissue in the afternoon, it'll keep you shine-free until evening! Due to its effectiveness, I only apply it to my T-zone. I'm not sure if it's related, but I've noticed a few blemishes appearing, so I'm keeping an eye on it. I'll update my review after using it a bit longer. Apply only to the T-zone. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinOct 26, 2016
Immediately after application and even as the oils settle in, the skin texture feels incredibly silky smooth. It's as if the micropores are holding everything in place. With reduced stickiness, even when using blotting papers, makeup transfer is minimal. This is a groundbreaking primer formula that goes beyond just another silicone-based product. The critical issue is that foundation doesn't apply well over it. It cakes up. Even when applied over foundation, it makes everything smear. If you're going for a bare-faced look, you might want to give it a try. Paula's Choice should stick to skincare... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAug 21, 2016
I can't leave the house without this now. I always apply it around my nose and forehead - it keeps my glasses from sliding down on days I wear them! It would be great if they offered a smaller size option at a lower price point, perfect for travel! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAug 7, 2016
It does an excellent job controlling oil and initially provides decent coverage for pores. I developed pustular acne... I thought it was due to stress, but within 5 days of using this product, I got 5 new blemishes... - ne******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJul 20, 2016
It does control oil... But that's about it... I'm not sure which ingredient is responsible, but as soon as I applied it, my face erupted with tiny bumps, not quite blemishes, but something like little grains... I usually have very oily skin and super sensitive skin. (My skin type doesn't react well to cosmetics containing mineral oil.) Anyway... It's so disappointing that this product doesn't suit me at all. I had such high hopes because it claimed to control oil. Well... Every time I apply it, something breaks out... So I don't have any pro tips to share. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJul 5, 2016
This is the absolute best for controlling oil. Even by lunchtime, my skin still feels fresh and matte. It's quite pricey. If it were a bit more affordable, I'd feel more comfortable applying it generously. You need to pat it on for better results. It seems to be more effective that way. - Hwahae UserOily SkinFeb 17, 2016
Absolute holy grail... It truly lives up to its 'Shine Stopper' name. I have oily skin, and I haven't found any other product that controls oil as well as this one. It seems to slightly minimize the appearance of pores, but its main strength is definitely in oil control... The price for the amount you get... It runs out too quickly. I'd switch to an alternative if there was one, but there doesn't seem to be a good substitute. You must pat it on gently. If you rub it in, it won't be effective. - Hwahae UserDry SkinFeb 12, 2016
The name is a bit confusing, but it's just a type of primer. It's absolutely fantastic at controlling oil, I'm telling you! As a guy who tends to get quite oily, especially around the nose, and has pretty large pores, this product does an impressive job of keeping oil at bay for quite a while. Usually, I start getting shiny within an hour or two of leaving the house, but with this, I stay matte for a good four or five hours. If you're looking for a primer that can handle both sweat and oil like a champ, I highly recommend this one! Well... while it's great at controlling oil, it falls a bit short when it comes to filling in pores. Also, the product name is kind of lame. Oh, and if you buy it at full price, it's on the expensive side. I'm planning to apply this thinly over other primers. That way, I can tackle both texture issues and oil control. For those who use Paula's Choice BHA, you'll probably relate to this: sometimes after using BHA, your pores feel so open that oil seems to pour out (or is it just me?). That's when Shine Stopper comes in handy - it really keeps that oil in check. I've managed to say goodbye to my super oily skin by using this along with Innisfree No Sebum powder. It seems to work particularly well with BHA products. I'll definitely repurchase because it's the best among oil-controlling primers out there.
