My hair is naturally wavy and hard to tame without treatments like down perm or volume magic. But with this product, it's become much easier to keep my hair under control. I used to stress about hair damage and scalp irritation from perms and straightening treatments, but now I can maintain my scalp health while achieving the style I want. The price is a bit steep. However, when you compare it to the cost of a down perm, it's actually quite reasonable. The performance is definitely worth it. You don't need to use a lot of product - spreading a small amount evenly is sufficient. Using too much can make your hair feel greasy and might cause irritation. - ls********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRecommendedAug 24, 2021
- A must-use for curly hair during rainy season and on rainy days. It really reduces frizz and makes your hair relatively more manageable. I bought it right after seeing in a magazine that it's great for curly hair on rainy days. - The scent is subtle - you might notice it if you're looking for it, but it's not overpowering. It has that signature Aveda fragrance that's hard to describe, but it's not too strong which is nice. - The price is comparatively reasonable. For a well-known brand, it's not exorbitantly priced and comes in a generous amount. - If used incorrectly, it can make your hair look flat. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the application method, but even though I didn't think I applied too much, on a very rainy day my hair looked a bit limp after using it. It's not easy to get the right amount. Use this on curly hair on rainy days. It noticeably improves the frizz typical of curly hair. Highly recommended for rainy weather! - al*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedSep 22, 2020
The scent is lovely and it helps tame my hair a bit. It's great for those with slightly wavy hair. I apply it when my hair is wet, but the slippery feeling on my hands is not so pleasant... Nothing specific to add, just make sure to apply it only to the ends of your hair, otherwise it can make your hair greasy. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 16, 2020
I consistently used this product because I trusted the brand. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver the expected results (the calming effect is common in other essences too). After checking the Hwahae app, I was disappointed to find out it contains many ingredients that should be used with caution. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAug 24, 2020
It gives me the feeling that my hair is being straightened. The Aveda brand makes me want to buy it. The smell is unpleasant, it's ineffective, expensive, and I really only bought it because I'm easily swayed. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinRecommendedApr 14, 2020
I'm satisfied with the product's functionality and effectiveness. When applied to damp hair before blow-drying, it definitely makes my hair more manageable and reduces frizz. As Aveda is a brand I trust, I'm using this product with confidence and satisfaction. The scent might be polarizing. Even as someone who generally likes Aveda fragrances, I'm a bit hesitant about repurchasing due to the smell. However, I still recommend it because once you apply it to your hair and dry it, the scent transforms into a very healthy and attractive aroma. Most Aveda products seem to deliver dramatic improvements with long-term use rather than immediate, drastic effects. Even if the cost is a bit high, I recommend applying a small amount daily instead of just once a week or only when you need to look your best. For me, it took about two months to see results, starting from when my hair was damaged right after coloring. If your hair isn't freshly colored, it might take about a month to see improvements. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 29, 2020
When it's raining or your flyaways are out of control, using this makes your hair so incredibly smooth that you won't need to spend money at the salon. It tames your hair to the point where it's practically glued to your face, making you look super put-together and neat. Highly recommended for those who frequently get hair straightening treatments! I can't use it right now since I've just had a perm, and I'm afraid it might completely undo the curls. But for those of you with lots of flyaways like me, try applying just a bit to the top of your hair... It really makes your hair texture look sleek, I promise. Please, just use a tiny amount... - dl**********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 31, 2019
I have wavy hair that tends to get frizzy. This product is a total lifesaver and my holy grail! I've been using it for 3 years now, and it's so effective that I don't even need to straighten my hair anymore. Just applying this product makes my hair manageable enough to go out. It works so well for me that I plan to keep using it consistently. The price is a bit steep... And the scent isn't really my cup of tea, unfortunately. After washing my hair, I apply small amounts in multiple layers and then blow-dry. This technique seems to help straighten my hair even more! - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedNov 22, 2019
Oh, you little savior for my bleached, semi-curly hair! Who knew the Smoothing line would work wonders on my unruly bleached locks that can't handle perms or straightening treatments? What a pleasant surprise! ㅠㅠ Using the Smoothing shampoo, conditioner, and essence together can tame your hair even with a basic blow-dry technique! Compared to hair oils and mists from other brands specifically made for bleached hair, this product adds shine much more effectively. A little goes a long way, making it feel quite sufficient. It didn't have any color-protecting effects. If that feature were added, it would be absolutely perfect! Just a heads up, there's another essence in the Smoothing line that's exactly the same but with a different name! This one is 'Natural', and there used to be a discontinued 'Glossy' version. You can tell by the English text on the front. The Natural formula is soft and milky white, while the Glossy was sticky and translucent. A few years ago, even though I hadn't bleached my hair, it was naturally semi-curly, dry, and frizzy, so I bought the Glossy version. Well... it wasn't great. I had stopped using Aveda for a while, but the Natural version is truly amazing!!! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinNov 20, 2019
The positive aspect wasn't so much about the product itself... As someone with extremely curly hair who gets it chemically straightened every three months, I appreciated receiving this as a gift. It was nice to have the opportunity to try it out simply because it was given to me. Of course, I didn't have dramatic expectations, but controlling the amount was a bit difficult. I used it after washing my hair and letting it dry slightly. While it wasn't noticeable immediately, the next morning my hair felt incredibly greasy and matted. It's probably my mistake, but I dislike products like this... There are so many products out there that can be used naturally even if you misjudge the amount, so I won't be buying this one again. I used it about three times, but now it's just sitting there unused. I can't tell if it's effective, and I don't feel inclined to use it. I've been using Moremo treatment, which has greatly improved my hair texture, so I'm sticking with that.
