The cleansing effectiveness is average. Since I have oily skin, I'm not sure if it gives that squeaky-clean feeling. There's nothing I'm disappointed about. There's nothing I'm disappointed about. There's nothing I'm disappointed about. It's made with rice and has good ingredients. I love the subtle fragrance. - di********Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityDead Skin CellsRecommendedJul 3, 2025
It lathers up nicely and seems to have decent cleansing effectiveness. Definitely recommend! Hmm, if I had to point out one downside, I'd say the amount is a bit on the small side. - xd********Dry SkinSensitive SkinDark CirclesRecommendedJun 28, 2025
I've been using this product for two years now. It's an excellent foam cleanser for dry skin. It removes makeup effectively and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry after rinsing. While it's available at Olive Young, it's not frequently on sale, which means the price point can be a bit high. That might be a drawback for some. This cleanser works hard to maintain the oil and moisture balance in your skin, making it ideal for those with super sensitive skin or deep dryness issues. Its cleansing effectiveness is impressive without causing irritation or redness. If you're looking for a daily cleansing routine that's gentle yet thorough, this might be worth the investment despite the higher price tag. - ca********Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 27, 2025
As someone with super sensitive skin, I'm quite satisfied with this product. I appreciate that it's mildly acidic and has gentle ingredients. The product comes in a rather small size. I prefer fragrance-free products, but this one has a noticeable scent. - an******Dry SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJun 26, 2025
As someone in their 40s with dry skin, I've learned that moisturizing isn't just a winter necessity - it's crucial year-round. In summer, the scorching sun can deplete our skin's hydration, while air conditioning leaves it parched. Though I've lightened up my routine compared to winter, hydration remains paramount. That's why I didn't hesitate to snag About Me's Rice Makgeolli Foam Cleanser. It's not every day you find a product ranked #1 for hydration on Hwahae! I was intrigued by the "rice makgeolli" concept and wondered about the scent. To my delight, it has a subtle, milky fragrance. The texture is delightfully bouncy. While it doesn't create an abundance of lather, the foam is satisfyingly rich. Despite being mildly acidic, it cleanses effectively. You know how some cleansers leave your skin feeling squeaky clean? That's often a sign they've stripped away too much natural moisture. This one, however, leaves my complexion feeling soft and hydrated post-cleanse. It's clear why this cleanser earned its top spot for hydration. It works hard to keep skin moisturized, making it perfect for those of us battling dryness! While this isn't a drawback for me, it's worth noting that this cleanser doesn't leave skin feeling "squeaky clean." Those with oily skin or those who prefer a more thorough cleansing sensation might find the gentle, moisturizing finish less satisfying. I recommend switching up your cleansers based on your skin's needs. For evening, try a mildly alkaline cleanser. In the morning, opt for a mildly acidic one like this. It's all about finding that perfect balance for your skin! - ki*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJun 13, 2025
I'd like to preface this by saying I used this product solely for cleansing, without any makeup removal. 1. Reason for purchase I thought I had oily skin, but it turns out I have combination dehydrated skin. After switching from my previous cleanser (recommended for oily skin) to this one, which was featured in Director Pi's skincare routine for combination dehydrated skin, here's my review. 2. Fragrance True to its name, it has a slightly nutty scent. However, it's so subtle that you won't notice it unless you deliberately smell it or apply it right under your nose. I found this pleasant - the mild, nutty aroma was a refreshing change from strong floral scents. 3. Cleansing effectiveness I only used this to wash away oil, dead skin cells, and sebum, so I can't comment on its makeup removal capabilities. Despite my severe combination dehydrated skin, there was almost no feeling of tightness after patting my face dry. It felt like it only removed excess oil, which I really appreciate. 4. Texture and application The foam wasn't as dense as my previous product, but this actually made it less irritating and easier to wash off. The lighter texture allowed for a gentler, more convenient cleansing experience. There's absolutely nothing negative to say! No stinging, no strange odors, just a wonderfully soft foam that I love! Highly recommended for those with combination dehydrated skin that tends to produce excess oil. - sk*******Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedJun 12, 2025
The fragrance is lovely when washing my face, making me feel like I'm getting a thorough cleanse. Its slightly sticky texture is great for lathering up. I can't think of any downsides. It's just rice makgeolli, so the scent might be pleasant to some and unusual to others - it's a matter of personal preference. This cleanser seems to have a unique rice wine-inspired scent that adds a pleasant sensory experience to the cleansing routine. The texture appears to be well-suited for effective cleansing, though the fragrance might not appeal to everyone. It's worth noting that the product's cleansing effectiveness and how it affects the skin's balance are important factors to consider beyond just the scent. - la**********Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJun 10, 2025
This product is great for gentle cleansing! It doesn't leave my skin feeling dry either. If you're wearing heavy makeup, you might want to consider double cleansing for better results. - by********Dehydrated SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresJun 8, 2025
The rice ingredient seems to give it a gentle feel on the skin. It didn't feel like it had exceptional cleansing effectiveness. I do double cleanse, though. - ir*******Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsJun 7, 2025
I've had this product for a while now, and here's my review after a month of use: It has a gentle, mild feel and is a low pH foam cleanser. I'm not usually sensitive to scents, but this has a rice water or makgeolli-like smell that might be off-putting if you're sensitive to fragrances. I didn't find it particularly impressive. I later found out that this brand was launched by Samyang Corporation, based in Pangyo. Knowing it's from a fairly large company gives me more confidence in its safety and quality.
