I frequently use Paula's Choice products, and this one came as a gratis item. The scent is a bit strong, which might be challenging for those with super sensitive skin. It also doesn't lather much. However, despite not foaming up and feeling like you're just rubbing liquid on your face, its cleansing effectiveness is outstanding. You can actually see your complexion becoming brighter as you use it. I plan to continue using it and see how it goes. The somewhat noticeable scent is a potential drawback. It doesn't lather as much as expected. Due to the lack of foam, you might end up using more product than usual. For best results, use this after showering when your pores are open. Don't try to work it into a lather in your hands like a regular foam cleanser, as the liquid might slip away. Instead, apply it directly to your face immediately after dispensing it into your hand. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 6, 2018
Its biggest advantage is that it's pretty safe and reliable. Even for blemish-prone skin like mine, it doesn't cause any major breakouts. The downside is that it's not exceptionally great either. It just maintains the status quo. If you're sensitive to scents, you might not like it because the smell is a bit off-putting. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 1, 2018
As someone with super sensitive and dry skin, I noticed a significant reduction in dryness after using this cleanser. On days with heavy makeup, it doesn't feel as thorough in cleansing, so I gently use a foaming cleanser alongside it. If you have dry skin, consistent use of this product seems beneficial. - al*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresNov 12, 2017
I had previously used the Skin Balancing Cleanser without issues, but it didn't improve my blemishes. So when I saw this cleanser for sensitive combination skin, I bought it without hesitation. Unfortunately, there wasn't a single positive aspect for me... As soon as it touched my face, it felt stinging and irritating, like an acidic substance. My skin tingled throughout the entire cleansing process. It also left my skin feeling quite dry. I think this cleanser might be more suitable for oily skin types rather than sensitive ones. I would recommend this for non-sensitive oily skin types. Those with super sensitive skin should probably look elsewhere... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 4, 2017
My skin is combination dehydrated with blemish-prone and super sensitive tendencies. I was searching for a moisturizing, low pH cleanser that's good for both my deep dryness and blemishes when I discovered this product. I've been using it for just over a week now. Being low pH and gel-type, it doesn't create a lot of foam, but this formulation is said to be great for blemish-prone skin. I've found it to be truly non-irritating. Despite my severe dehydration, there's no tightness after cleansing, and it even helps control sebum, keeping my oily surface in check. It feels like it's balancing my skin somehow. As someone with sensitive skin that reacts badly to unsuitable cleansing products, I'm happy to report that this one caused no adverse reactions whatsoever. Since it's low pH, its cleansing effectiveness isn't super strong. So after wearing makeup, it's best to use a cleansing cream or water first, then follow up with this product. For those with blemish-prone and sensitive skin, trying to remove everything with one go using a powerful cleansing foam can actually irritate the skin more due to harsh ingredients. I recommend a gentle first cleanse with a cream or water, followed by this low pH cleanser for a second cleanse to minimize irritation. I don't really have any complaints, but if I had to pick something, it would be about controlling the amount when dispensing the product. The amount is fine for evening cleansing, but in the morning it seems a bit much. Other than that, I'm so satisfied that I'll probably be using this product exclusively for a while! As mentioned earlier, since it's low pH, its cleansing effectiveness isn't extraordinary. So after wearing makeup in the evening, it's best to do a first cleanse with a cleansing cream or water, then follow up with this product for a second cleanse. In the morning, this product alone is sufficient and non-irritating. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 2, 2017
I'm not quite sure, but I've been using it for a while, thinking about switching to something else The cleansing effectiveness seems poor, and my skin tends to react badly. Not impressed - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinAug 20, 2017
My skin type is prone to redness with blackheads and acne. After using this, my skin improved for a while, but then suddenly flared up, so I switched products. Still, it worked well for a decent period. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for that squeaky-clean feeling. Other than that, it's okay. Nothing to add. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinFeb 28, 2017
The texture is incredibly gentle, and it feels like it effectively removes skin impurities. Since I don't usually wear heavy makeup, this product alone seems to cleanse my skin thoroughly. The container is made of a rigid material, making it challenging to use every last drop of the product. For those who wear heavier makeup, you might want to use a stronger cleanser first, then use this as a final step for a refreshing rinse. It's quite hydrating! - ey*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinJan 8, 2017
I absolutely love this! As someone with sensitive combination skin, it cleanses so gently. My face doesn't turn red after washing, and it feels like it's perfectly calming my skin. I'll definitely keep using it and plan to repurchase. In summer, I might have to use it only in the mornings. While it's perfect for fall and winter, during summer I'll probably need to alternate it with a skin-balancing foam cleanser. I use it with a foaming net to create lots of lather. - ki*********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDec 14, 2016
I was looking for a new foam cleanser since my usual one was discontinued. I initially wanted to try the Fol:lov Skin Balance, but it was out of stock. So I called customer service, described my skin type, and ended up trying the Earth Source and Calm Cleanser. At that time, my skin was in terrible condition - I was even visiting dermatologists frequently! Between the two, the Calm Cleanser suited me better. While its cleansing effectiveness isn't the best, it's incredibly gentle, which I'm really satisfied with! My days of hopping from product to product are over!!! I'm planning to stick with this one. No more blemishes!! I love it! It's quite expensive, and the amount seems a bit small. But since it doesn't cause any blemishes, I'm willing to overlook these drawbacks. Make sure to use a foam net! Due to its low pH, it doesn't lather well on its own. If you want a fine, creamy foam like a typical cleanser, first clean your foam net, then squeeze some Calm Cleanser onto it while it's still damp and work it into a lather. Also, because its cleansing power isn't very strong, I use a cleansing water for my first cleanse to remove makeup, then follow up with the Calm Cleanser for my second and third cleanse. Even with this routine, there's no skin tightness or irritation at all. The scent grows on you too!
