I knew Anna Sui was good at primers, but trying this again after a long time... I'm truly impressed. I used a different Anna Sui primer ages ago, and while that was good, this Pudding Primer is the real deal. The color is a light apricot (skin tone) that brightens your complexion by about half a shade when applied. It's not as intense as a dedicated brightening moisturizer, but it does make your skin look slightly brighter and more even. Surprisingly, it also has some sun protection (SPF24 PA++), which wasn't mentioned in the product description. I originally planned to use sunscreen underneath, but except for midsummer, this might be enough on its own - which is great! The texture is a gel-type with a fluid feel. It has a shape memory formula, so even after use, it settles back to a smooth surface over time. When applying to the skin, it feels like spreading a hydrating gel, but rather than staying moist, it seems to fit perfectly on the skin surface. It's not like the typical pore primers from other brands that leave a powdery, silicone-like finish, nor does it feel like an essence. It finishes with a firm feel, as if you've applied a thin, glowing film to your face. There's a beautiful sheen even without any pearls or shimmer. While it doesn't completely fill or erase pores or texture, it does create a smooth, thin coating. When you apply cushion foundation or liquid foundation over it, your makeup adheres incredibly well. The makeup-gripping effect is definitely noticeable. And its true value becomes apparent over time... it really, really improves makeup longevity. Even after 8+ hours of wear, I noticed significantly less base makeup breakdown compared to usual. There's also a subtle glow that shows through the cushion, giving an overall radiant and healthy look to the skin. (It's not a dewy shine, but more of a porcelain-like subtle glow.) It's clear that this product, made in humid Japan, excels at maintaining makeup flawlessly for long periods without touch-ups. It's far superior to other primers I've used before. As someone with oily skin whose T-zone makeup usually disappears within an hour or two of full makeup in summer, I think this product will be amazing for the hot months. The classic Anna Sui black jar packaging is cute, and the subtle rose scent is lovely too. Although the container looks small, you only need a thin layer for the whole face, so it should last quite a while. For me, this is nearly a holy grail primer... I'm planning to repurchase when I run out! The jar packaging means you need to be careful about contamination. They do provide a spatula, but you'll need to clean it every time you use it. - bm*****Normal SkinFeb 3, 2022
I chose this product for its excellent absorption, adherence, and natural brightening effect. It has great primer-like qualities that smooth out skin texture. Even a small amount provides overall coverage. If you haven't applied enough skincare or have very dry skin, you might want to use a bit more. It has a bouncy, pink mayo-like texture, and I've been using it without any noticeable irritation. The ingredients aren't the cleanest, so I had to think about why I should use it. But functionally, I like it so much that I justify using it by thinking of it as applying two or three products with less-than-ideal ingredients. You need to be careful with the spatula and external dust. It's not something you'd want to dip your fingers into when you're in a hurry. - mi******Combination SkinRecommendedDec 25, 2021
It adheres perfectly to the face with killer staying power. Without any shimmer, it creates Anna Sui's signature natural and beautiful complexion. The bouncy, unique jelly texture is amazing. You only need to apply a tiny amount, and it works just as well as a brightening moisturizer! I scrape every last bit until I see the bottom of the container and always repurchase this holy grail product. The price is quite steep... When you first buy the product and apply it, the unfamiliar texture can be tricky to work with. You need to be careful not to let it pill up when applying. The key is to use a small amount and spread it out widely! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedFeb 12, 2020
It enhances makeup application, brightens the complexion, and even conceals dark circles! This is my first time using a primer, so I'm not sure if other products are like this too... In my opinion, it feels quite rich in oils. - ba**********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 15, 2019
This product acts like a magnet when applied under cushion foundation, adhering perfectly to the skin. It provides above-average pore coverage and does a great job evening out the complexion. It transforms dry, lackluster skin into a plump, firm canvas. I thought the price-to-volume ratio would be the biggest drawback, but surprisingly, it's the ingredients that leave the most to be desired. A little goes a long way - even a small amount spreads evenly across the entire face. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinMay 12, 2019
I bought this BB cream to use before applying makeup. It's moisturizing and really helps my makeup adhere better. However, I'm a bit disappointed with the ingredients, which aren't as good as I expected. Also, depending on the makeup products used, it can sometimes cause pilling. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 11, 2019
The texture is incredibly bouncy like jelly, but it spreads smoothly and evenly. It not only evens skin tone but also covers pores well. I bought it out of curiosity, and it exceeded my expectations. There's a noticeable difference in foundation longevity when using this primer versus not using it, so it's become an essential in my routine. Personally, I found this product far superior to the essence primer from the same brand. It might be a bit drying for those with dry skin. Sadly, I'll have to skip using it in winter. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedDec 21, 2018
It evens out the skin tone naturally and is a perfectly lightweight primer for summer wear. The volume is smaller than expected, and it doesn't quite fulfill its role as a primer, but I'm an Anna Sui fan so I use it anyway. It's great to keep in the fridge during summer! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedAug 18, 2018
The primer itself has a nice, firm texture and when applied before makeup, it really helps foundation adhere well! The quantity seems a bit small compared to the price, which is disappointing. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 30, 2018
My holy grail paired with Double Wear foundation. It's more about evening skin tone and complexion than priming. There's a noticeable difference between days I use it and days I don't. Even a small amount provides good coverage. It attracts dust too easily. The included spatula is small and easy to misplace. The amount you get is too little for the price.
