This is my summer must-have! At first glance, you might think it's foundation due to its deep color. But surprise! Once applied, it's virtually invisible. I even gave it to my husband who spends a lot of time outdoors. However, since he has blemish-prone skin, it makes him a bit flushed when he uses it. So, I'm the only one using it in our house! There are no real downsides, except maybe it's a tad rich? These days, many sunscreens make you look pale, but this one gives you a healthy glow when applied. (And I don't mean sticky or greasy!) Oh, just a heads up - it pills when used with the Free Beige from the same line. So apply it over a light base! It's the struggle of layering two high-performance sunscreens... - 19*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 22, 2022
The color may look a bit dull and oily at first, but once you spread it all over your skin, it's not like that at all! It feels like you've applied a light oil, and your skin feels incredibly lightweight. What's more, it slightly corrects yellowish skin tones, making it feel worth the price. Even though I have combination dehydrated skin, I'm using it well because the glow is so pretty! The price is on the higher side, which can feel quite burdensome..! It looks really beautiful if you apply it a bit thickly on areas that need a highlighter effect, like cheekbones and the bridge of your nose, let it absorb, and then apply your base makeup! - br****Combination SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedApr 25, 2020
* Function: SPF50 PA++++ I bought this right away when I saw the launch ad in a magazine a few years ago (2017). Now PA++++ is common, but back then 'City Smart' was the first. Elizabeth Arden always seems to create products with the 'world's first' title. * Irritation: None. Usually, when I apply sunscreen (SPF50 PA+++ from L'Oréal, Laneige) and stay under the sun, I feel skin pain (face gets red and swollen, stinging sensation, dark spots start appearing near cheekbones). With 'City Smart', I don't experience these symptoms, so I keep using it. Absolutely no eye irritation. * Color: It's beige, but leaves almost no pigment when applied. No white cast. It doesn't wash off easily with sweat, so I use it well every summer. I even applied it well in Spain, the land of sun. * Texture: Applies smoothly. Feels like a soft emulsion. * Scent: Almost fragrance-free. 1. Expensive price When it first launched, I bought it at the Lotte Department Store main branch for 89,000 won for 40ml. It was more expensive than Lancôme sunscreen, but I trusted and purchased it because it was the world's first PA++++ (4 plus signs). Why so expensive?: DNA-ENZYME COMPLEX™ It's said to prevent DNA changes caused by photoaging, and you can see comfortable facial skin when cleansing in the evening after applying in the morning. In summer, I end up using only this. 2. It can be slightly drying for very dry skin or in seasons other than summer. (I don't feel the dryness in summer. However, it can get dry if you're directly facing air conditioning.) So on the face, Ceramide Gold Capsule → Moisturizer → City Smart will perfectly combat dryness. * Essential for beach trips or traveling to sunny countries. * If you apply this and then a 21 shade cushion, the color might not express well, so be sure to test before purchasing. * Elizabeth Arden products are expensive at launch, but the price gradually drops with promotions. However, this product doesn't get discounted. You can buy it during 1+1 promotions at department stores. - sl***Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 31, 2019
I've tried various gentle sunscreens that claim to be safe for babies, but I couldn't use them due to eye irritation. I've been using the Eight Hour Cream for about 8 years, so I decided to test this sunscreen. Surprisingly, it caused no irritation even when applied around the eyes. Now, I exclusively use this product. Elizabeth Arden, the brand, seems to frequently offer promotions when you sign up for membership at department stores. This time, I scored a great deal with a 1+1 offer on the sunscreen and I'm currently using it. While I use affordable drugstore products for other skincare items, I stick to Elizabeth Arden for sunscreen and moisturizer. It's truly my holy grail sunscreen! When first applied, it takes some time to absorb and might feel a bit rich. However, once you layer foundation over it and head to work, by the time you reach the office, it sets beautifully! It seems to prevent makeup from sliding off throughout the day. - cg***Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 26, 2019
It's so moisturizing! Some might feel it's a bit rich, but I don't mind it at all. Many sunscreens out there are incredibly drying, so this is definitely better. It applies so smoothly and evenly - it's a dream to put on. I've never used a sunscreen like this before. It contains ingredients like red iron oxide that you'd typically find in foundation, which gives the liquid a beige-brown tint. However, it doesn't provide coverage like a foundation would. Honestly, I love that even though it looks brown, it doesn't really change my complexion. The formula being brown means there's no white cast, of course. I wanted to find a different good sunscreen because this one's pricey, but the application is so nice, the color blends naturally, and it's quick to apply, making it convenient for my makeup routine. I might just repurchase it... I'm a bit concerned about using it daily due to some questionable ingredients, but I haven't found a sunscreen I like better yet, so I'll probably keep using it... The high price is also a downside.
