Even with frequent use, it doesn't wear down as quickly as you might expect. I've been using it for 3 months and haven't had to sharpen it once. The color you see in the tube is slightly different from how it looks when applied to your lips! This might vary depending on your natural lip color. Also, if you apply too much, you might experience a bit of the 'yogurt effect'.
