Overall review - My beloved holy grail body balm, I'd protest if it's discontinued This is truly my favorite body balm product. It's always in my bathroom, and I buy a new one before finishing the current one. I've gone through 3-4 empty containers. Scent - A rose garden full of fresh greenery. It's not light, but refreshing and soft - a universally appealing fragrance that's absolutely charming. Application and hydration - When applied by hand, it glides on smoothly without any clumping. The finish is slightly tacky, indicating excellent moisturizing power! I can feel the hydration lasting until the next day. Let's keep this body balm forever! The price is quite steep for the amount you get. That's why I'm mixing it with an unscented body cream that has good hydration. I'm using it mixed with a moisturizing unscented body cream. While this alone won't make you smell strongly of roses, if you add a rose-scented perfume, the fragrance really lasts. - p9*****Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJan 4, 2022
Absorbs well: True to its name, it's a body balm. When scooped out, it has a heavier texture than cream, but once you start applying it, it spreads smoothly and evenly over a wide area, much better than expected. Absorbs well: Unlike body butter, it doesn't leave an oily or sticky residue. While it doesn't instantly absorb, it leaves a smooth feeling on the skin. It absorbs well without compromising on hydration. Scent: I bought this as a body balm rather than a perfume since it was early autumn, and I'm glad I did. Many describe it as the scent of roses on a rainy day, and that's exactly what it's like. It smells like fresh roses. What I love is that it's not just a delicate floral scent, but more like the aroma of crushed rose stems and petals. It's less of a pure floral fragrance and more of a natural garden scent. Scent projection: Certainly, being a body balm, it has a lower fragrance concentration than perfume, so the scent is milder. (It's stronger than body emulsion, with intensity and longevity increasing from body emulsion < body balm < perfume). However, I actually prefer this as it allows for layering with other fragrances. Applying the L'Ombre Dans L'Eau body balm and then spraying on Eau Rose creates an absolutely wonderful combination! - ha********Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedAug 13, 2021
As a fan of L'Ombre dans l'Eau fragrance, I decided to try the body balm alongside it. I'm so satisfied with how moisturizing it is and its excellent staying power. I apply the body balm after showering and spritz the perfume the next day - it's pure bliss to smell like L'Ombre dans l'Eau all day long! While my face is combination, my legs are dry, especially itchy in winter. This balm has really improved the condition. I used to use The Body Shop's Mango Body Butter for very dry skin, but I've realized it contains too many questionable ingredients. The price is quite steep, unfortunately. It's in the $100 range, which is a bit painful. It would be great if it were more affordable. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedFeb 18, 2021
The rose scent is absolutely delightful! The rich, creamy texture provides excellent hydration. Being a cream formula, it's not particularly impressive in terms of how it absorbs or spreads on the skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJan 17, 2021
The initial scent is like smoldering wood - smoky, but in the most delightful way. Then, it transitions into a wild rose fragrance. It's truly mysterious and incredibly alluring! The body balm glides on smoothly, and its hydrating effects last until the next day. My skin feels so supple and nourished. I absolutely love it! And the amount you get is incredible! Occasionally, when I apply it while not feeling my best, some areas of my skin become itchy and red. I suspect it might be due to the fragrance. On those days, I opt for a non-irritating body emulsion instead. It seems to have a slight irritating effect. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedJan 15, 2021
The fragrance is lovely and the texture is rich. It absorbs well into the skin. Feels like I've hit two birds with one stone! For some reason, it's difficult to purchase. I don't trust products from open markets, but it often seems to be out of stock. Why aren't they selling it when I'm willing to pay? - kj*****Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedDec 7, 2020
The initial scent is quite grassy, but the lingering fragrance blends elegantly with my skin, revealing a sophisticated rose aroma. The price is a bit disappointing. It's too expensive to purchase and use regularly. - yo****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedNov 17, 2019
The texture is closer to a balm than a cream. Still, it's not stiff and spreads well. The next day when showering, there's a slightly slick feeling left on the skin. It has an appropriate weight for winter body use (feels substantial). I usually just apply body cream generously to prevent dryness, so I'm not sure about its functional aspects. However, I didn't experience any side effects like skin reactions after application. The reason I splurged on this pricey body cream is for its long-lasting fragrance. The scent is like a bittersweet garden. L'Ombre Dans l'Eau has a strong herbal scent / smells like a garden at dawn. It's a unisex, calm yet sophisticated fragrance..! You could say it's a scent that complements cool air. Body cream fragrances often struggle to last, but this product has excellent longevity. Apply it after an evening shower, and the scent lasts until morning! While it's challenging to maintain a strong lingering scent when going out, you can still catch whiffs of it occasionally...! I highly recommend this to those who, like me, prioritize rich and long-lasting fragrances. Hmm... There's nothing particularly bad! Since it's a body cream, I can't think of many functional aspects to critique. Well... I suppose it's a bit disappointing that the body balm only comes in two fragrances. The emulsions don't have as strong staying power as the body balm. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 12, 2019
The scent is truly captivating and luxurious, reminiscent of roses. Being a body balm, it has better staying power than an emulsion. What I love most is applying it before bed - the rose fragrance envelops you in the sheets! It comes with a spatula and an inner lid. The container feels surprisingly weighty, which adds to its premium feel. It's not your typical plastic; it's more like a hybrid between plastic and ceramic. As mentioned, it has a thick consistency being a body balm, but the moisturizing power is excellent! In summer, I use just a small amount, but in winter, I find myself slathering it on generously. Due to its thicker consistency compared to an emulsion, the fragrance seems more intense. Those sensitive to scents might want to consider this before purchasing.
