This barrier cream is perfect to apply before bed during winter. I absolutely recommend it for anyone with very dry skin. If you apply it before makeup, it tends to shift and move around. I think it might feel a bit heavy during summer since it's quite nourishing, but it's absolutely perfect for winter use. Honestly, there really aren't any downsides. If you have oily skin, you might notice a slight bit of shine coming through, but that's it. The hydration is so effective that I genuinely can't find any real flaws.
