It has a mild acidic pH and the cleansing power isn't bad (though I'm not sure if it's actually great). It works fine as a second cleanse, I'd say. The scent might be hit or miss for some people, but I didn't mind it at all. 1. It caused some irritation for me. I used it generously since I heard it was gentle, but strangely, my skin got noticeably red right after cleansing. I think it might be because of oil-control ingredients in the formula. I learned that just because something has a mild acidic pH doesn't mean it's automatically gentle or right for everyone. 2. It barely produces any lather. 3. I love using this as my morning cleanser because it leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and refreshed. I also tried using it as a second cleanse at night after a cleansing water for the first step, and it works great that way too. The fragrance has a pretty strong artificial cucumber scent that's quite noticeable. That said, it didn't bother me personally. Give this a try as your morning cleanser. I've been using this almost daily for about two weeks and wanted to share my thoughts. I usually just stick with a brightening sunscreen, so my esthetician recommended a gel cleanser to me. The sample she gave me was an emulsifying cleanser, but when I bought Bioderma, I discovered this one is different—it's a gel formula that creates a lather instantly, even on dry skin without any water, and doesn't require an emulsification step! While I do miss that emulsifying process, I really appreciate how this gel cleanser works so gently and effectively without any irritation. Even on days when I've only worn cushion foundation, one pump is enough to thoroughly cleanse my skin. The scent has a fresh, aquatic vibe with a slightly masculine feel, but it's not overpowering. If you're sensitive to fragrance, you might find it a bit much. I'm definitely planning to repurchase because the bottle is generously sized, the price is great, and the pump dispenser makes it so convenient to use. I wish this came in an unscented version. My skin tends to be sensitive and reactive, so I did some research and noticed that dermatologists and estheticians use cleansing gels. I tried several products, and Bioderma's cleansing gel is the one that works best for me! I can't really comment on the scent, but the results are definitely there. I wish it produced more lather since it doesn't foam up as much as I'd like. That said, if I wash my hands thoroughly with soap first to get them clean, then apply the cleansing gel to damp hands and massage it in, it does create a nice lather. Overall, I'm happy with it.
