The brightening effect is definitely noticeable. My skin tone is around shade 23, and this makes it look almost like shade 18. I can apply it while showering and just rinse with water, which is super convenient. There are already so many great reviews about the benefits, so I'll keep this brief. Here are the downsides... It can shift or move around a bit. It works fine if you apply it correctly, but if you don't, it tends to shift. I haven't used it enough yet to pinpoint exactly where the shifting happens. - If you don't rub it in enough, it shifts. When you apply it with plenty of water on your skin and really massage it in thoroughly, the shifting is less noticeable. - Don't rinse with too much water. Use a gentle shower setting and just lightly rinse away any excess product. - When drying, pat gently instead of rubbing. If it shifts and you're not sure what to do, just add more water and reapply, or layer a body emulsion on top. The product does get a bit thinner as you apply it, but it spreads evenly and helps reduce the shifted appearance, blending more naturally. If you find the finish too pale and heavy-looking, adding a body emulsion will help. It does transfer a little onto your hands when you touch it, but it doesn't transfer to clothes as much as you'd think. That said, be careful with dark-colored tank tops. If your arms brush against the fabric or a bag, it can transfer or rub off. To be safe, avoid wearing precious clothing or carrying nice bags, and be extra cautious on important days to prevent any embarrassing situations. If you really need to wear something nice, spray a setting spray on your body. This reduces transfer significantly. Spray it 2-3 times and build it up for better staying power. There can be some creasing in areas where you bend frequently, like your arms, or if you sit for a long time and then stand up. Do a quick check midway through the day to smooth out any creases. Many people mention the longevity isn't great, and while it's not as bright as when first applied, it still holds its brightness when you check. It doesn't create a dramatic transformation, and honestly, the staying power isn't magical or anything, but you definitely notice a real difference in your skin tone, which is great. I applied it while my skin was slightly damp and kept layering it on until the moisture dried down. Then I applied another layer, rinsed gently with water, and patted my skin dry with a towel to remove any excess product so it wouldn't transfer onto my clothes. The tone-up effect actually held up really well throughout the day.
