I've tried about ten cushion compacts, and Chantecaille really lives up to the hype. Their cushion is absolutely incredible. The product doesn't come out in excessive amounts, so there's no need to remove excess. After applying it, I've never experienced dryness even once throughout all four seasons. When it first launched, there were no refills available, but I'm so glad they now offer refill options. The product amount is on the smaller side, so if the price had been about thirty percent lower, I would have definitely made the switch to this cushion compact. I'm wondering if this is just my experience or if others have the same issue. Also, the case isn't particularly attractive to me. Out of every cushion I've tried so far, this is my favorite! I have skin tone 21, and Designer Lift 1.5 is my usual shade, but Alabaster feels a bit too dark on me. Also, the compact case feels a little outdated in design. Since the coverage isn't super high, instead of layering it on to boost coverage, I find it looks most natural when you just apply a single thin layer. Unlike foundation and BB cream, this doesn't feel heavy or suffocating on the skin. The price is quite steep, and the coverage is practically nonexistent. After just a few hours, the product breaks down due to excess oil, and it feels like the cushion effect completely disappears. I have thin, sensitive skin, so I've tried almost every lightweight cushion that's famous for being gentle—Estée Lauder, Nars, La Mer, you name it. But no matter what I used, my skin always looked tired, heavy, and honestly, my bare skin looked better than with any cushion on. Nothing ever satisfied me until now. La Mer was the least sticky, but that's about it. This one is different. I apply it and think, 'Wait, did I even put anything on? But my skin looks so beautiful!' That's exactly how I feel. It barely covers imperfections, but it does even out my skin tone. With the Alabaster shade, it neutralizes redness, so while I still have some blemishes, my skin has this healthy, natural glow that I absolutely love. For me, there really aren't any downsides. But if you're looking for full coverage, I'd honestly suggest passing on this one.
