I really appreciated how the Hourglass formula is firmer than a typical balm, so it barely melts even when it gets hot outside, and it doesn't clump up as much when applying. While there was some catching on my lips when I had a lot of dry patches, the glossy formula kept it from being too noticeable. Since it has a moisturizing texture, I could just quickly swipe it on without worrying too much about lip care. The beige shade leans neither too pink nor coral, and it doesn't have too much white cast, so the warm tone worked well on its own. That said, I found it looked prettier when I used it as a base and added a point color on top. With most balm formulas, when I apply a deeper color just on the inner lip, the shades gradually blend together and end up looking like one solid color, which I found disappointing. But this one has a firmer formula, so the gradient effect I created actually shows up much better. The plumping effect isn't super strong, so compared to other products, it doesn't give as much volume, but I'm okay with that since it feels less irritating. I was disappointed that the Hourglass formula is too soft and melts as it applies, so while I appreciated the firmer formula of this one more, it seemed to have less of that glossy feel in comparison. Because of the formula's nature, there's quite a bit of transfer, but since the color is light, it's not too noticeable. Since there's no pigment and it has a glossy formula, the wear time isn't great. Also, the scent is quite sweet and strong, and every time I apply it, the fragrance really hits my nose, which was a bit disappointing.
