This product is excellent for keeping skin hydrated and moisturized. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure about the soothing benefits, but it does create a protective barrier similar to Vaseline. If you layer it over other products like a sealant, your skin stays dewy and fresh all the way until morning. There's nothing major to complain about, though those with oily or combination skin might find the formula a bit too rich and heavy for their liking. My hands tend to get really dry and irritated during seasonal changes, but since I started applying this product regularly, things have improved so much. This cream has a thick, ointment-like consistency with zero hydration and one hundred percent oil content. That's why when my skin needs intense moisture—like during contact dermatitis flare-ups—I reach for this over barrier creams. I apply it generously before bed, and when I wake up, there's still so much left on my skin that it feels incredibly rich and nourishing. I only use it when my barrier is compromised; otherwise, I don't really reach for it because it feels more like a medical ointment than a regular moisturizer. When my skin is irritated, I'll use it, but otherwise it's not necessary. One jar lasts me several years because you use so little. If you have oily skin, I'd skip this one. I get contact dermatitis pretty frequently, so this works great for me, but if you don't deal with that kind of skin sensitivity, it probably won't do much for you.
