One month update: I had chronic folliculitis around my mouth area, and it completely cleared up after using this. It was such an unexpected benefit! When I stopped using it, the irritation came back, which really confirms this product is the one doing the work. I did some research and found that niacinamide can sometimes trigger folliculitis in some people, so I'd say don't just slather it on without thinking, but honestly, it worked wonders for me. My skin type has redness on my cheeks and is quite sensitive. Since I started wearing masks, I've noticed some freckle-like spots appearing, so I've been using this product on them. 1. Brightens discolored skin with visible whitening effect (see photos) To be precise, the freckles that were already there didn't fade. However, I developed some discoloration on my elbows from exercising, and this product actually worked on that! Using it consistently really did lighten those spots. +) Recently, after removing an acne patch, I had some discolored areas underneath, and I'm noticing my skin tone is returning to normal much faster in those spots. 2. Very gentle and non-irritating I chose this product carefully after my skin turned red from using a retinol ampoule. I'd had no issues with niacinamide-based ampoules before, which actually played a big role in my purchase decision! Anyway, my skin didn't become irritated or turn red. 3. Effective prevention for age spots and freckles This product seems to work more as a preventative—it keeps existing age spots from getting darker or multiplying, rather than fading them completely. 1. Be cautious with high niacinamide concentration While I wasn't too worried since I'd used niacinamide ampoules before, a 5% concentration is considered quite high for a skincare product, so results may vary from person to person. 2. Some irritation possible It's not completely irritation-free. On days when my skin was already irritated, applying this product caused slight redness in those areas. Because of this, I didn't use it daily and always applied it at night. 3. Not extremely hydrating The product instructions even say to apply it as a concentrated spot treatment. If you have dry skin, I'd recommend applying plenty of hydrating ampoule first and then using this product lightly on top. I'd recommend this for anyone focused on preventing freckles and age spots.
